That's Not My Photograph. It's the work of Simon Roberts a Brighton-based photographer who spent three years travelling around the British coastline taking pictures of piers. Being a seasider myself, I have a penchant for piers (I almost feel quite spoiled having grown up in Blackpool, home to three sea-stepping structures. Almost). So, I'll be visiting Roberts'
exhibition at Flowers Gallery in September and checking out his accompanying book
Pierdom. But today we'll be treading the boards in Clevedon - we've headed out west for the Bank Holiday and are staying with a friend nearby - I'm always happy on the pier.
Enjoy the holiday weekend.
so gorgeous. I love a pier too - so much mystery out there.
ReplyDeletePiers change so much depending on the weather -- the absence of people is so striking here . . . so very atmospheric. . .
ReplyDeleteI was happy to hear you talk about the pier and Clevedon. I was there 10 years ago for my friend's wedding and have photos of myself and friends on this very pier. My friend's parents were involved in raising money for its restoration.
ReplyDeleteHappy Bank Holiday!
Wow Judith, what a coincidence. I'd never been to Clevedon before, one of my friends has moved nearby, isn't it lovely? And the pier is one of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteWow -- love these!
ReplyDeletethese photos are just amazing! Wow.
ReplyDeleteLove this photographs. My husband is from Brighton and a keen photographer - he'll love the book - one for the Christmas ideas list I think!
