Ancient Greek Sandals

I know I should be talking Céline-inspired silhouettes and tartan trousers but it's sunny again (last week I got vey confused when it was raining and I had to wear proper shoes) and I'm thinking sandals. Ancient Greek Sandals. Produced in Crete by artisans and worn by celebrities in La-La Land. And finally, I get the SJP shoe thing! Not the Manolos or the Jimmy Choo's but the off-duty shoes. This summer, SJP has worn Swedish Hasbeens, with socks - I must try this as I've spent months trying to break mine in - and a pair of AGS wedges. We share a love of comfy shoes. That is our age.

This is the company that created the men's winged sandal for Hérmes - oh yes they make mandals too - and there's a Carven resort range, out in November. And I'd quite like a pair of Ancient Greek Sandals for the last days of summer.

Available from Net-a-Porter.

 But which ones?

  1. The 2nd or the 4th pair for me, please! They look classic yet snazzy. Kisses

  2. I love the really simple ones in silver or the ones SJP is wearing. In fact, I have a pair just like that - though minus the hefty price tag ;-) - in tan leather which I have worn for the past 3 years. xo

  4. It is our age indeed and I love everything SJP wears, except for the Hasbeens with socks, hideous!

  6. I love these kind of sandals, I have a pair, handmade in St Tropez, that I have had in black patent for 20 years, they only get a few days a year wear now but I can't bear to let them go, they sell them on-line but that's not the same as the old man measuring them to your feet;

    So sad that sandal time is coming to an end...

  9. I think they are quite beautiful and stylish, but feel I must spoil the party a bit. I wore a pair of AGS as well as analogous Helmut Lang flat sandals stomping around Spain last summer, and earned a nasty case of plantar fasciitis (inflammation of the tendons holding together the bottom of the foot) for my trouble.

    My 40-ish feet will be entrusted to Birkenstocks, Mephistos, or Clarks for summer touring, something with more padding and support, from now on.
