Snake Print Shoe Obsession

When it comes to footwear, I prefer pimp shoes to porno chic. This was confirmed last week when I popped into the Museum at FIT to see the Shoe Obsession exhibition. I've never hankered after an 'it' bag or got the the Sex and the City cult designer shoe thing. It's just not for me. Whilst I can admire a pair of six-inch Louboutin's as an art form, I'd never actually want to wear them. I prefer the men's collection to the women's, anyway. Yep, I'd rather look like Liberace than Lady Gaga. So. Having failed to find that pair of snake print Nike trainers I was looking for in New York, I'm thinking of pimping-up my boots. And this pair from Hudson should do the trick.

The good thing about keeping things minimal on the fashion front is that you can throw on some fancy footwear and not stumble into Anna Dello Russo territory. To me, this combination of blush pink and python print feels a little Keith Richards, a little French fashion editor and totally au courant.

What will you be stepping out in this spring?

  1. Absolutely with you on this one! I can't walk in heels anyway and keeping the rest of my outfit simple means - as you pointed out - that I can add a little bit of vavavoom with shoes. These are great! xo

  2. So agree with you on this.
How the heck anyone can walk in those high heels is beyond me!
I have 2 pairs of 'animal' boots one black, one red, both ancient and both still wearing well. Can't beat 'em!

  4. I have some snake skin flats, that I doubt ever were a snake - they're brown/gray. They're a little fragile but I like the mix of colors a lot.

  5. I absolutely love that first line. It took me a second to grasp what you were saying but o! it explains your preference so eloquently.
The boots are great although here in Texas we are sprinting to Spring. Too late for boots. Maybe some snake skin sandals?

  6. Ooh, I do like those boots, and I'm not usually a huge fan of reptile print.

  7. Those boots are quite an edgy style statement. I couldn't pull them off. But you and Deja Pseu certainly can. I will be stepping out in royal blue ballerinas. That's about as edgy as I get.

  9. Fantastic booties, love these. I never though of Liberace shoes, but I think you are on to something there, Alyson. Quick to the trademark!

  10. Not a fan of the reptile look. I do remember in my teens falling in love with a pair of alligator heels. I begged and begged for those and when I finally got them I dont remember wearing them. I am a total HEELS only person though. I have to have at least 3 to 4 inch heels on my boots or pumps or sandals because I have limmited my look to mostly jeans so like to dress them up with my shoes, tops, and accessories.

  13. I got a pair of snakeskin print flatform sandals for a bargain £10 at a Clarks outlet last week. Now all I need is some sunshine to wear them.

    Very cool boots

  14. I would like them better if the sole and heel were black. That would give them more of an edge. I think the tan color makes them look a little clunky and dated, like shoewear from the 1970's.

  15. I'm hyperventilating. I love those boots. They'd look good with almost anything, as far as I'm concerned.

  16. Like you, I admire the beauty of heels and marvel those that can actually walk in them, but I am, and always will be a flats kind of girl - preferably something that looks as though it was made for a stylish man. I will be wearing my fabulous, leopard, Chelsea boots from Zara that I havent been able to wear for fear of ruining the furry nap!
