A strange thing happened to me in New York the other day, I was hit by a baseball at the Yankees game. Blimey. What are the chances of that?! Fortunately I ducked and it hit body flab, not my face, so there'll be no need to sue the MLB. In other news, after receiving an invite to the Eileen Fisher showroom, I've been embracing grown-up fashion Manhattan-style. Ball games, fashion previews, litigious thoughts - I feel like a proper New Yorker now.
After seeing the fall preview (as they say on this side of the Atlantic), I'm wondering why I only own one EF jumper. The brand's trademark layering of easy-to-wear, luxury separates is my kind of thing - and I really like the new slightly slimmer silhouette. The tan suede waterfall jacket (first photo) over surprisingly soft, black coated jeans, this lovely woollen biker jacket. The quality is top-notch, there are lots of gorgeous fabrics - silks, suedes, subtly sparkly knits - and every woman should own an essential grey marl top:
And the good news is that Eileen Fisher is now available in the UK - and I'll have a Q&A with EF herself, coming soon.
I just bought some EF white jeans because the fit was slimmer than it used to be--hooray! Up until now, EF has been (for me, at least) the clothes you buy when you have officially given up on your waistline. Unfortunately, clothes without waistline definition make me look like a large, bespectacled egg. Now I can benefit from the lovely fabrics and construction and the way the clothes pack so well.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you got hit by a baseball...that can be so dangerous..but I am also so jealous you get to interview EF. I love her designs...though I do not own one garment..I worship them from afar (the other side of my bank account). I love the second look here...especially since it is that beautiful brown. I hope your return home is a safe one!
ReplyDeleteI really loved the EF ads for last Fall / Winter. The pieces looked gorgeous in soft greys and creams. I don't own any yet, but maybe a little investment piece might creep into my wardrobe this year.
ReplyDeleteI could wear all those outfits. I hadn’t realised that EF had made it to the UK. I am always happy to see more clothing for grown-ups by designers like Eileen Fisher. Makes me feel less invisible and inspired to up my game.
ReplyDeleteouch! to the baseball, sorry! Love all these EF, I could put them all right in my closet.
ReplyDeleteEF is not available in Finland (?).
ReplyDeleteThe easy sweater in the last picture looks comfortable. Would be able to wear it like right now, as it is so cold over here.
Great colours and shapes. In Australia we seem to be a long way off getting anything like this ...
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and the exposure of the dressing posture is at its best.

Love the browns, sadly most jumpers are woollen which I cannot wear.Judith/Ida
ReplyDeleteThere are people that wold photograph the bruise attained at the Yankees game and frame it. Not that I am one of them, mind you. I have never really had much experience with Eileen Fisher garments, but I have been hearing a lot about them lately in the blogosphere. Maybe its time I had a look...
ReplyDeleteLove this line up - will have to check out EF when I am in the States next month for sure! x
ReplyDeleteAdore the colors, textures and craftsmanship of Eileen Fisher but fit for smaller sizes just doesn't work on me. Must say I've seen women looking wonderful the clothes.
ReplyDeleteLove EF, but at times its a little too flowy for my frame. Adore her colors though. Wish she'd ease back on so much charcoal as I cannot wear it at all, but otherwise perfect.
ReplyDelete* You can't sue if hit by a baseball - its on your ticket. You have waived any rights to sue upon purchase - accepting the ticket and attending you acknowledge the risk.
