The Vans & Other Stories collaboration modelled by Daphne Selfe (and Flo Dron, below) has got me thinking about skate shoes, again. It's the perfect weather for a slip-on and the spotty leather Dalmation style would look neat with my faded black jeans.
The three Vans & Other Stories styles |
Fans of Vans will be pleased to hear that the gold metallic version is back in stock at J.Crew; available HERE.
And Clarks has interpreted the classic shoe in a perforated leather pump with Softwear Technology for extra comfort. Available HERE in white and the Germolene colour that seems to be quite popular...
Old-school style, I popped into a store last week and will definitely going back to try the white Clarks pair on. And, I'm pleased to see that after working with Iris Apfel in autumn, & Other Stories continues to celebrate mature muses. Comfy shoes, 86-year-old models. Age is all the rage.
Love the shoes and models! I recently bought alligator look silver slip ons and LOVE them. So much fun wearing something a little unexpected!

Love the nude color! Smart way to elongate the leg when wearing sneakers...
ReplyDeleteI just bought a navy pinstripe pair from J Crew for $15 (!!) and couldn't be happier.
I have the Germolene shoes from Clarks, also two other pairs from their current range and will be buying more. I can attest to their comfort and style, plus they cost less than Vans. I don't think Clarks get the recognition their shoes warrant so good to see them mentioned. I don't work for them btw!
ReplyDeleteVans is opening a store in Chicago very soon, on Testosterone Alley (better known as Rush Street); I may have to pay them a visit. Just to browse, of course! Thanks for sharing; another pair of summer shoes is seldom a bad idea...
ReplyDeleteCool shoes - I have one pair already, might be time for another1
ReplyDeleteGermolene! how I miss that smell. I wonder if you know the Beau Coops brand? I am wearing their amazing comfy shoes right now and I think they are right up your alley http://beaucoops.com
ReplyDeleteThat's good that Clarks are making a more comfortable design of Vans. Their soles tend to be so flat! Love your style, I'm inspired.
ReplyDeleteP.s. found your blog through Sunday Style (Sunday Telegraph)

These are so cool - I shall groom my lower extremities and get a pair! xo
ReplyDeleteuh-oh, something else on my Must-Get list. So much for my retail fast. It's clearly broken. . .
ReplyDeleteAge IS all the rage. Bound to happen, really, demographics in the Western world being what they are. But no less appreciate for its inevitability.
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of the Vince Vanalikes. Love them to pieces.
I bought a pair like the last photo you shared from a catalog recently.Have yet to wear them but know I will get good milage from them!
ReplyDeleteYes, "AGE IS ALL THE RAGE"I agree..........
I love my Vans/Converse/Frankie4u slip-ons and live in them. Metallics and pastels are my favourites. Alas, I cannot say I look like Daphne in them, but I do feel they add a dash of youth to many a casual ensemble. Once you start wearing 'old' shoes, you're done for!
ReplyDeleteI am a Daphne Selfe fan and you have inspired me to check out these gorgeous slip-ons!
ReplyDeleteI have clarks dalmation print from last year.....sooooo comfy and lots of lovely comments when wearing!
ReplyDeleteDaphne is great! :-) X
