Style Inspiration: Emma Thompson

Isn't Emma Thompson looking fabulous at the moment? Her hair is bigger and blonder, accessories are bigger and bolder, she's embracing colour to the max and just generally having lots of fun. The 54-year-old actor was Botox-free and brilliant on The Graham Norton Show last night, I liked her comment about having work done,  'Look at me, I don't do anything, I'm normal. It's psychotic, isn't it having your body opened up and stuff put in, injecting yourself with poison?'

With Pierce Brosnan at The Love Punch film premiere.

Mind you, I still won't be rushing to the cinema to see Saving Mr Banks.

  1. Wow! She looks amazing. Some women really do get better with age in more ways than one.

  2. Wow, she really does look fabulous! She just owns that coral color.

  3. I actually couldn't recognize her in these photos, at first. So very different from the more restrained characters she so often plays. And I'm so pleased with her comment as it seems psychotic to me as well to cut and inject poison, all in the supposed name of beauty and youth. Although please, please don't take away my hair colour...;-)

  4. She looks amazing - I've always loved her as an actor, too. She was incredible in "Wit". I'll have dinner with her date, too : >

  5. She has never looked happier, healthier, or more beautiful. Truly an inspiration!

  6. I've always liked Emma Thompson, she always seems so normal and I enjoyed seeing her on the Graham Norton show. And yes, she looks amazing!

  7. I love Emma Thompson, and she looks great with that new hair style and color! But I most like that pose and the clothes in the coral shirt and high-waist trousers. Both humorous and classy!

  10. She's looking gorgeous! Usually "bigger and blonder" doesn't work out so well, but Emma pulls it off without a doubt.

  11. Her hair is SO MUCH BETTER than what it was. She looks like she's dropped 10 years or more with that cut and colour. As far as staying away from "having work done": that's fine if you look like her. For some people, staying away from any "fine-tuning" is good, but mostly those folks don't need it. Other people do need it in order to look -- well-- better. Too much, not good. Too little, also not good, depending on what Nature has given you. One size does not fit all, and just because she looks great, doesn't mean everybody can follow her lead and remain "totally natural."

  12. I have to disagree with Rosemary above, and say that no one NEEDS work/"finetuning"/whatever we're calling it. How can "too little" surgery/botox, etc be called "not good"? Have our standards become so skewed that people in their natural state aren't good enough? How very sad. Emma Thompson look great now, as she always has, but isn't she really to be valued for her talents and intelligence rather than her hair? xxxx

  13. pastcaring - agree with you, Emma Thompson was brilliant on Graham Norton because she is intelligent, self-deprecating and fun. Goes without saying that she's a fantastic actor too.

  14. She looks fabulous these days. I could hardly believe it was her when I saw a photograph recently.

  15. I do so agree with you pastcaring. I think it is so sad that a lot of women feel the need to have "work done". To accept that you have HAD your years of a youthful face, and time to move on to another stage of your life is surely the way to go. Care about your clothes, hairstyle and grooming and you can still look good. Otherwise, you can end up on a slippery slope and look like Cher. Also a great guest on Graham Norton - but with NO face movement.

  16. Emma Thompson is like a good wine - she naturally gets better with age. It's a shame that there aren't more role models like her in her industry. Bisous.

  17. She does look FAB and is a fantastic natural actress,
    and a genuinely lovely person.
but PLEASE - you are naive if you think this look is natural - the hair colour, the skin tightness and bloom - about as natural as any celeb can be.
A lot of work has gone into that Natural look.
I am sorry to sound so cynical.

  22. She looks great, but mostly she looks happy. Happiness is the best beauty ingredient!

  23. artyfarty - Emma Thompson was pretty fab to begin with admittedly, and these images have been airbrushed. If you click through to The Graham Norton Show, she looks pretty natural and Botox-free there.

  24. She looks fab, love that pink dress although I must admit I can't think of a film I've seen of hers in years, which is sad as she'd probably prefer to be admired as an actor rather than a pretty face.
Wonder how she feels about the airbrushing in these photos? Without wanting to sound like a total knob, there's an amateur photographer who follows me around at vintage fairs, airbrushes the life out of any photos he takes and plasters them all over Facebook. I hate it. It makes me look like a marshmallow. I don't have a problem with a few wrinkles. x

  25. I agree she is looking divine. That colour looks fab on her. I might copy the hairstyle.

  26. I wonder about airbrushing too - if her neck and jowls really look that great naturally, well, that is amazing and good for her...I'm technically against injections and surgery but I won't lie, I'm looking into a lower face lift. I'm ok with the upper half of my face aging naturally, but the lower half literally drags me down. So I'm fixing it. Absolutely no injections though. Ever, lol.

  27. I think that she looks fabulous but to really believe that she hasn't had a bit of intervention is to be simply naïve.

  28. I have to agree with the other commenters that just because she says she's none nothing - doesn't make it true. I saw Love Actually last night and she had jowls, deeper lines, etc. I have no judgement either way surrounding it all, I find it a very personal decision. However, I don't like it when people pretty much lie about it all. Better to say nothing.
That being said, she's one of my favorite actresses of all time and she looks fabulous.

  29. I've seen Saving Mr Banks on a preview showing and loved it. Of course it's not the 'true' story but it is captivating and moving.

And there are many people who do lie but I believe Emma Thompson when she says she hasn't had work done - she certainly looks very natural in Saving Mr Banks...
