My business card describes me as 'Fashion expert. Journalist. Botox-free blogger.' I've always preferred the natural look, wrinkles and all, and never worn a lot of make-up - so it's pleasing to find that Italian Vogue editor Franca Sozzani feels the same. Into the Gloss ran a great interview with her this week:
'I’m really against Botox or any facial injections—it changes the face. I think if you really take care of your skin, you will age in a better way. Aging is normal. My face shows my life. It’s better to age with dignity than to age with these fake cheeks and lips, or eyebrows up to here. They can look like burn victims. I understand surgery more, because I’ve seen things done in a very nice, imperceptible way. I’ve considered it, but I’m happy as I am.'
One thing I noticed when looking for pictures of Sozzani is that as well as having an impeccable wardrobe, she smiles a lot:

ReplyDeleteYou know what is said about smiling..the natural face lift! I think you discovered her secret!
ReplyDeleteThat was such a good interview. Love her beauty philosophy
ReplyDeleteHere's to smiling and being your own person. x
ReplyDeleteI'm off to read the interview. And yes, a smile brightens the whole face!
ReplyDeleteShe is a remarkable women, perhaps it is her incredible confidence and self acceptance that has made her such a huge success, she certainly is a great inspiration to me, and I fully endorse the concept of aging gracefully, without the use of toxins all for the sake of a little youthfulness. Good skin care, enough sleep,a healthy life style and a smile gets you much further, and it's real!Great post!!!
ReplyDeleteFF
She looks great, and I do think smiling is a far better look than an over-Botoxed pout any day! xxx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the description on your business card. And your post about the gorgeous Franca Sozzani.
ReplyDeleteA smile is the best facelift.
ReplyDeleteA smile is the best facelift.
ReplyDeleteAlways wanted to be a Sozzani, so how exciting to find that we use the same body wash and don't believe in botox. Love it that you are botox free too.
ReplyDeleteI am also anti botox and fillers and prefer to stick to my facial exercises, which incidentally involves lots of smiley type movements. Also I have read that the very act of activating the small muscles to create a smile lifts the mood.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, people quite often are surprised about my age - & I often get comments about how smiley I am so maybe something in that. She looks beautiful & free.
ReplyDeleteThank you! LOVE this! I agree totally. She truly is beautiful and her smile sure helps that. No Anna Wintour there!
