Lampshades, life and other stuff

We're in the midst of a major decluttering phase at That's Not My Age Mansions - at present, every time I meet a friend, I offload a bag of my unwanted tat. This appears to be part of a larger bid to sort my life out - more of which at a later date - but as the bigger issues are more difficult to manage, I've started organising the smaller stuff instead. Now I've got rid of the superfluous clothes, I've turned my attention to the spare room. This is the place where the Blog Widower stores his books, clothes and Rolling Stones memorabilia - and more importantly, where That's Not My Age happens.

At London Design Week recently, I met the lovely people from Lane - a small company run by a couple of graphic designers whose aim is to produce beautiful products and support British craftmanship. These neat lampshades are made in one of the last remaining paper mills in the country. As TNMA Mansions has a bit of a mid-century modern feel, I think a colourful lampshade would look good in the spare room/nerve centre of blogging. Can't decide between the red or the green - that's another thing about midlife, I've become incredibly indecisive. What do you think?

  1. They are very cute...and I love all the colors. We are also are attempting to support US companies. I think that is important for our individual economies!! Good luck on the clean out at the mansion!!

  2. I like both the green looks a bit minty from the picture which is nice. My mother always told me every room needs a touch of red and I have followed her advice in my own home so RED is the one I would pick.

  3. It's really exhilarating to do a clean-out, and discover all manner of new spaces! These shades look terrific.

  5. I think it depends on what you intend to use a particular room for. As you will be blogging in this room, I think red might be more appropriate as it's energising. It is also the colour of good luck in China.

  6. Lovely way to spread light in the nerve centre of blogging area. Should be inspiring! I can't decide which color I like best either, so I am of no help.
