The grown-up guide to summer
Today you can see me over on the M&S website. Quite literally, there's a great big photo/holiday snap that's much larger than I expected. And frankly, it's a bit frightening. Must get a professional mug shot done soon. Anyhow. M&S have just relaunched their Style Edit section and they've invited a group of, er, stylish editors to share expert advice and pick out the key summer pieces. I honestly think the revamp is really good - and I'm not just saying that because they're paying me. The addition of editorial content really brings the website to life and highlights some of the decent stuff that often gets lost in an avalanche of jeggings and viscose blouses.
My Grown-up Guide to Summer (Part 1) covers everything you need at this time of the year, when it's Not Quite Summer Yet. One of my transitional wardrobe essentials is The Cropped Jacket. I have a very fine selection of these and will be putting together a more in-depth post soon. In the meantime, you can read my other suggestions here. Oh and I'm also talking about the Blue Print trend, which includes denim, another one of my favourite things.
Have a brilliant Bank Holiday weekend.
Alyson
You should put a link in here...or perhaps there is and I missed it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I found it and I loved it.
You are terrific at pairing things down to the essentials. And the shoe comment is priceless and so true! Comfortable is usually an euphemism for "Gnome" looking shoes.
BTW, your "mugshot" is great with that polka dot scarf
Hi my dear- I'll be checking you out over at M&S and what a great jacket here, the colour and cut are just perfect for Summer! Have a good weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteLoved your article!
ReplyDeleteGreat selection of items, especially the Chanel inspired jacket and those gorgeous earrings.
So true about a glass of wine on the sofa ;-)

Spot on advice. You've made it so easy to update and chic-up without going outside your comfort zone. These are style points anyone can work into her wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteGreat article and advice, Alyson. I'm favoring the knit trousers too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that jacket!!!
ReplyDeleteHugely improved website and loving personal edits, especially yours, will tempt me into M and S again for more than food.
ReplyDeleteLove the jacket. I'll have to check out M&S. Have a great weekend!

I like that blouse you found. And I think M&S has done a good job of updating the site. Nice design.
ReplyDeleteI agree, after my recent rant about the dismal experience that is shopping at M&S, the site has improved. I still have a hard time finding things in the stores as it is so full of stuff, as you say, viscose and jeggings..but its nice to know that you can find stuff on the site. A girl needs options, after all...
