Older models: Indira Amin

This post is a celebration of stamina and persistence. I've been meaning to bring it to you for quite some time now but because my That's Not My Age inbox is permanently full, the photographer Prarthna Singh has had to persevere. Seriously, I could spend my entire life deleting emails. Could do, but I don't. So if you are trying to get in touch, please bear with me. Anyhow. This photoshoot was for the label Nor Black Nor White in collaboration with Bombay Electric - a store described by the New York Times as the Barney's of India. Singh managed to persuade her friend's beautiful 78-year-old grandmother (or Nani in Hindi) Indira Amin to model a range of gorgeous dresses made from vintage saris. Indira enjoyed the experience so much she even let them paint her toe nails neon pink.

  2. Gorgeous, gorgeous model!! She's 78? Such inspiration! (excuse the exclamation marks but !!!)

And those dresses -- I love the simple shift, with sleeves, made fabulous through glorious fabrics. Wonderful. I could live in dresses like this, the length, that flattering V that's nevertheless modest, i.e. not skin in the V but contrasting fabric. Brilliant -- too bad one must go to Mumbai to shop for them. . .

  3. So far your older models have not been to my liking.
But this time : The model looks great. Just enough of fixing, not to little, not too much.
I also like her hair, as it is not like helmet, nor is it hanging loose and aging her as long hair can easily do.
The clothes suit her colors. I´d wish she´d had shoes in the other picture though.

  7. I am happy to see more mature and older models, still by far not enough.

What a gorgeous woman. I love the Indian inspired dresses with a contemporary cut.
