Jaeger's Boutique Experience

Just around the corner from Carnaby Street, where some of London's first boutiques popped up in the 1960s, Jaeger has opened The Boutique Gallery at their Regent Street store. Offering a selection of modern British brands like Preen, Mawi, Studio Nicholson, Wilbur & Gussie, Charlotte Taylor - some new, some not so new  - ahem, Orla Kiely - as well as Jaeger's own younger Boutique line. This lifestyle edit is a similar concept to Mary Portas' store-within-a-store at House of Fraser, and being a lazy shopper, I like that kind of thing. It's a lovely space and this is a definite improvement: there are books, bags and beauty products, a gallery of archive pictures - oh and complimentary coffee and comfy chairs too. Gone are the days when hanging out in boutiques was confined to the young. If you're Up West and fancy putting your feet up, head for the second floor.

One of my favourite things was this Charlotte Taylor quilted jacket - which would look fantastic with jeans:

How do you feel about stores bringing in other brands?

  3. I think it shows confidence in your own brand and agree that it is a great concept. I suspect that the prices will be beyond my budget, but it's tempting to take a look when I next visit London!

  4. What a lovely place to shop, so serene. And the quilted jacket is so perfect for right-now.

  5. Nothing bad against the idea, though seeing several similar ones side by side, is a bit depressing.

  6. I loathe shopping, am more of a buy it and get out kind of person, so an opportunity to get what I like in one spot sounds great to me. Especially if it's not a department store, which seems like a warehouse of depressingly "ick" to me, even the high end ones.

  7. I like the idea. I really love when you can find one place that really edits looks and makes shopping (and dressing!) so much easier.

  9. That's a good looking shop- looks well edited and curated. I think if a shop knows their clientele well enough if is a good thing to bring in all sorts of brands their customers will like. A one stop shop in a way. Great expression of it here.

  16. I hope this is a success for Jaeger because I'm sad about most of their clothes - they used to some brilliant clothes but they cant be worn by fair/mouse coloured people like me. Obviously modelled on dark haired girls.

  17. I must pop in and take a look at the new version. Jaeger and I go back a long way. I used to shop there with my mother, there was a tea room on the ground floor. Then I worked there in the 70s.
