3.1 Phillip Lim photos: style.com |
Patchwork is fine on quilts, other interiors (I saw a vintage pouffe once that I quite liked) and 1970s hippies, but let's not forget that this cobbled-together craft is also seen on scary clowns and nasty dolls. Needless to say, Phillip Lim's denim-effect hotchpotch doesn't feel very grown-up. I'm going to sling it where it belongs, in the Fashion Bin.

Anything you'd like to add whilst we're ridding the world of unnecessary fashion items?
Excellent candidate for your big bin. It's very nasty.
ReplyDeletemullet hem skirts (and the hairstyle while we're at it too)
ReplyDeleteActually quite a lot of new designs could be thrown to the bin as well ; ).
ReplyDeleteThere are other candidates for the bin I'd choose from his collection before these - oversized pockets for starters. To me these have a smarter, Mondrian look rather than patchwork. A wearable shirt and the dress, "Look 43" I like. Have to say I hate the bin though.
ReplyDeleteThese definitely belong in the bin. Agree with the mullet hemlines, too. And I still want to see the end of platform shoes. Clunky no matter what the heel height, ugh.
ReplyDeletePatricia - oh no does this mean you're throwing the bin in the bin?!
ReplyDeleteYep. Agreed. Those trousers make that size 0 model look full in the hips, like she has a bit of junk in the trunk. What will it do on me!? I'm an 8/10!! (US...that's what, a 12/14 UK?!....gosh!)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely awful. Neon should also go into the fashion bin too if I had my way!
ReplyDeletePlatform shoes, ludicrously high heels, anything safety-vest yellow, thongs (flip-flops), deliberately torn/ripped jeans, parachute pants, spiky jewellery, Made in China...
ReplyDeleteDo love the bin, though.
ReplyDeleteSky high heels that resemble "hooker" shoes. Low rise pants.
ReplyDeleteI love proper patchwork on denim but those are hideous - like the bin though.
ReplyDeleteWolf fleeces, beige anything, ballet flats, jogging bottoms, trainers worn out of the gym, mullet hems, Peter Pan collars, bowler hats, disco pants, creepers, tee shirts with an Eiffel Tower logo.....the list is endless. xxx
Think I need a bigger bin, Vix!
