She's the cult Parisian designer who spends her weekends in a cabin in a forest with no hot water or electricity. Google her name and hundreds of images of skinny trousers, wedge trainers, western shirts pop up. Isabel Marant's bohemian, tomboyish, slightly thrown-together style has transformed everyday dressing and made casual glamour the go-to option:
'You want to look good but you don't want to spend too much time on it. I always go to things that make me feel comfortable. When I open my cupboard I need some clothes: jeans, flat shoes, a sweatshirt, jumper or t-shirt, a good jacket. I don't need some clothes to go to awards or whatever, because it's once a year.'
Let's give that woman a round of applause.

Thanks for introducing her to us! Now I want to see her designs. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteShe certainly talks sense - I can almost forgive her for platform trainers. Almost.
ReplyDeleteYes, she's got it right. Now, let me into her closet, please : >
ReplyDeleteLove her, love her clothes. They're my favorite items in my closet.
ReplyDeleteI love that woman - I love her clothes - I wish I could afford them, although I do blame her for making me think wedge heeled trainers were a good idea - mine are still looking at me accusingly from the shoe rack...
ReplyDeleteFabulous. I've just about stopped looking at the award show fashions on TV and in magazines. I'm much more interested in street style. It's more real. Isabelle seems much more real.
ReplyDeleteGreat words... and clothes. Would love a couple of IM pieces in my wardrobe. X
ReplyDeleteSo I don't have to worry about seeing her wearing my dollar-bill print dress, I guess ....
ReplyDeleteWell, she's missing out on that one!
Hi there-a woman after my own heart, totally get her way of thinking!! xx
ReplyDeleteI would not place my money on IM clothing.
ReplyDeleteThe designs might " look " good, but the quality is not.
One season clothes, sorry.
Love her personal wardrobe philosophy - practicality and comfort without forfeiting style. Bon weekend
ReplyDeleteWendy - I think the fabulous dollar bill dress might sway her!
