Craving camouflage print

Christopher Kane: Elle.com

I've told you about my newfound fondness for camouflage print before. What started as a lifelong addiction to khaki, turned into a craving for animal print before I gradually moved onto Class A Camo. And I'm not alone. This popular military print is fast becoming a grown-up staple - it was all over the autumn 2013 catwalks:

Now that I know it's a keeper, I've added these Gap 1969 skinny jeans to the faux military repertoire. (I'll be bringing boot-cut back soon enough, promise). Seen below with an old Mary Portas  scarf, Eileen Fisher organic cotton sweater and battered khaki kitten heels from LK Bennett:

How's that for Double Camo Action?  As I'm practically mainlining military print, I'm hankering after this gorgeous  Equipment cashmere sweater too.

To be worn with regular indigo jeans or slim black pants - I've no desire to look like Prince Harry in Afghanistan.

Are you craving camo?

  1. Hi there! You look great and I love your double camo, I think a scarf and jeans are a great way of channelling this trend! I'll wear my Pepe London camo jacket this summer and last month I got a nice roseprint/camo leopardprint scarf from primark for only £4.

  2. Your jeans are my favorite bit of camo here -- well, and the C. Kane skirt. My eyes are still getting used to the look but I'd wear your style jeans right now.

  4. I'm so glad camo is becoming a grown up staple as you say. I've loved military green and camo since I was a teenager, which was many a year ago.

  6. I personally am not a camo fan...I think because my boys wear it constantly...but that dress in the third picture is really cute...would look cute with leggings also!

  8. I could imagine wearing the pants, practical here at countryside.
Leopard or snake prints - never.

  9. Kid 2 is desperate for a pair of camo skinnies - I'm rather inclined to get them for her. Sadly, that then means I can't have them, as I abhor us wearing anything too similar ...

  10. I've just been having my first twinges of wanting some as well. It took me nearly ten years of being out of the Air Force to want to go there again....but I've finally come round.

  11. I am craving camo as well and trying to work it into my wardrobe in a way that doesn't look silly for an older glamazon. I got Tripp camo skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters and I'm also trying out the Gap skimmers. I'm also scouting out men's t-shirts and light sweaters for a different look - also generally a lower price point. 12. Hi, I love your blog. I am not really a fan of camo; as I spend a lot of my time walking my Lab. in the Surrey Hills i feel it might make me look like a game-keeper! Keep up the good work as your blog is great inspiration to those who also feel that's not their age!

  13. This is one trend I'll personally be avoiding. Kane is one of my favourite designers but not even he can ignite any enthusiasm for camo in me, it is the one print I have to say I don't like or own any of, the closest thing I have is a pair of khaki cargoes but without that blotchy pattern - I think I actually can't disasccoiate it with connotations of war so can't bring myself to wear it. Not a fan of Prince Harry either!

  14. I've never owned anything camo - but my son has loads. I guess that this is what fashion is up against: pattern du jour of boys aged 9-12 :-)

However, having seen it now on proper grown ups, I think it looks pretty good! *adds it to the list of things to try next time she reaches civilisation - ie shops!*

  15. I like the gray dress and your outfit. The blue skirt/sweater has my colors but the material in the skirt looks stiff and cheap. In keeping with the camo origins I think it should be a bit faded and well-worn looking.

  16. My teenage daughter says "people need to realize that camo does NOT go with 'Everything'."Out of the mouths of babes.
Not sure how I feel about it as an adult. Maybe in small doses. I see too many teenage boys wearing camo to feel it is fashionable. Also in Texas it just means you are out hunting or you are a poser.

  17. You look fabulous in your double camo action with kitten heels!

  18. For me camo is in the same teen category as skulls. I like to dress young rather than matronly but some things the teens wear I find it funny when found in the grown up departments. I do like military style jackets though.
