Older Models: Pam Lucas

No sooner than Halloween is dead and buried, my inbox fills up with Christmas crapola. Like I've got nothing better to do than spend my life deleting emails. Whatever. Whilst trawling through the detritus, I was very pleased to see that the latest campaign from TK Maxx (great for cheap Le Creuset and discounted sportswear) features this lovely grey-haired model Pam Lucas. You may well recognise her from the fabulous Illamasqua Beauty Before Age campaign, or the not-so-fabulous Guardian All Ages line-up.

When asked about the visibility of mature models, Lucas says, 'I think anything that encourages older women to express themselves through clothes and make-up, and to continue making the best of themselves is great. We all need to love ourselves at all stages of our lives!'

Too true.

  2. So far, this woman is my favorite of your " older models ".
    Her hair has a high-lighted gray look, one I like : ).

  3. I am not sure how old this model is but she is beautiful in this photo. Looking her up online and other photos she looks much older. I dk how much photoshopping they will be doing on older models if they start using them even a fraction more than they do now howerver I would rather see them photo shopped then wearing big cartoon glasses. I know for editorial purposes hats and glasses are used as a crutch but I would much rather see the older models posed as Pam is here even though I know hair and makeup for models is much different than reality at least it looks natural.

  4. Ah, she looks gorgeous especially compared to those hideous guardian photos. I lie the way she has been shot from above, the flakes of snow, her strong lipstick, but mostly her beautiful smile

  6. BTW those "Guardian" All Ages line-ups are exactly that: police photographs. The models look as if they were just told no one was putting up bail and they would have to spend the weekend in the slammer. Could they be any more unflattering or poorly "styled"? Not funny, no matter what your age.

  8. I knew I recognised her straight away. Much as I love Illamasqua, this picture of Pam way outshines her pic in the Human Fundamentalism Campaign. So full of life and vibrancy. Love it.

  14. I so agree with Pam . We must love ourselves if we are to be loved . That is true across the board.
If not love then at least value our selves and our need to express our inner beauty /humor/beauty/whatever ,if we want to be seen and have our qualities apreciated .
We must lose the fear of the negativity around older women that is perpetuated by advertising and the media generally .
