That's Not My Underwear

This is a first for That's Not My Age, I don't normally discuss my underwear in public - and if you saw the state of my knicker drawer you'd understand why. Seriously, who has the time for lingerie shopping? Anyway, amid the annual de-cluttering session at TNMA Mansions, I've decided it's time to replace the M&S three-pack pants and saggy old bras. My underwear is getting a much-needed upgrade. Being more American Sportswear than Agent Provocateur, I'm looking for something simple and attractive. So, good news, people. Retro swimwear brand Pistol Panties have just launched a new Liberty print lingerie collection, as part of their Disco diffusion line, at John Lewis. Pretty neat, eh?

Oh and if I buy the bra and pants, that'll be another first. I've never owned a matching set before!

Where do you buy your undies?

  1. That is REALLY lovely underwear - gorgeous Liberty print. Like you my underwear is rather a mish-mash of styles - nothing matches much to Mr SE's disappointment. However, I am waiting a shipment of something pretty special from Mimi Holliday - may even blog about it too but again, as yet have not discussed state of my knicker drawer on the blog!! We'll see.... Have you bought new and do yours ALL match now? (traitor!) X

  2. So pretty.
A first for me this past stay in Paris was lingerie-shopping with a friend. And braving a lingerie shop in Paris. Except for the dent in my charge card, it turned out to be a great experience and I bought not one but three matched sets! The lovely women at Laure Sokol in the Marais/St. Paul made it easy and stress-free -- and there was so much prettiness!

  4. I agree John Lewis are great for underwear shopping. They have a good selection of styles and sizes and have an excellent fitting service which I find invaluable.

  5. Gorgeous - my underwear drawer doesn't deserve such a label. I photographed myself in only matching set I possess.

I always buy good fitting bras - currently two Wacoal ones but I'll just buy a pack of black knickers from M&S and that'll do!

  7. So pretty! I am also a three-per-pack woman, with NO matching sets but your post is very inspiring. : )

  8. I love matching sets, but have very few!

  9. I'm ashamed to admit that my undies are pretty basic cotton 3-in-a-pack type stuff. The higher quality items have generally been gifts to me. This line of matching bras and panties look like swim-wear.

  10. I do wearing matching underwear, but even so it's utilitarian rather than pretty. I did used to have some lovely sets, but I haven't replenished. Must make the effort one of these days.

  12. SE - oh no haven't bought them yet! I'll be checking out John Lewis next week, you'll probably beat me to it with your Mimi Holliday.

Matrfamilias - thanks, easy and stress-free sounds good. I'll definitely check out Laure Sokol when we're in Paris.

Chicatanyage - thanks for the tip off, I've never bought undies from John Lewis. Went to Selfridges once and not one assistant asked if I needed any help! Terrible service, haven't been back since.

  13. I buy at Marks and Sparks in Dublin - pretty, yet durable. I'm also a multiple pack buyer! :) My underwear drawer is frightening - I haven't shopped for delicates in about 5 years. Dublin trip overdue!

  14. These are gorgeous, but I would make the mistake of throwing them on in the morning under something opaque, then deciding to switch to something light, or worse, white - forget about the floral print, and look like a loser for the rest of the day. Couldn't risk it. Which is not to say may underwear drawer needs a whole lotta work.

  15. I love these, I hope they're not expensive.

I buy Damaris and Mimi Holliday on Ebay, The Actor buys me fancy stuff and I also buy lots of Peacocks black cotton (check the label for the dodgy polyester ones) boy shorts with lace trim which are 3 for £5 xx

  16. I've learned from a recent survey that only 1 out of 7 British women wear matching underwear. One of the reason why is that, it is too expensive to wear a matching lingerie everyday. For me, pairing up is really sexy, but it's not that necessary, especially if it's just about impressing your man. Focus on what and how you feel when you're wearing that sexy lingerie and things will just fall into their places.
