Summer in the City
We're feeling a bit hot and bothered at That's Not My Age Mansions and the Tinto de Verano (red wine and Sprite) doesn't seem to be helping matters. It was over 30 degrees in London today, but that didn't stop Mr That's Not My Age going to work in a jumper. Long story, short: the spare room is currently occupied by Manhattan Brother so the Blog Widower's late-night wardrobe grab uncovered a classic three-button, Merino wool John Smedley that didn't need ironing. Fortunately, Mr TNMA works in an air-conditioned office and came home looking as cool as Roger Federer in Ralph Lauren silk pyjamas. Meanwhile, Manhattan Brother has taken to wearing a pair of my old sunglasses, cursing the lack of air-conditioning and Wi-Fi and asking random questions like, 'Who is Pippa Middleton?' My only salvation is this lovely raffia beach bag from Land's End, which I can't put down. It's large enough for all my usual junk, gives a nod to the Prada summer stripes trend and if the sun gets any fiercer, I'll be wearing it on my head.
Mmmmmm, Roger Federer in silk pajamas. It *is* getting hot in here.

Hahahaha. You crack me up. I remember, when I was married, brother in law came to stay. Was supposed to help out in the law office, sprained ankle right away, spent the summer on the sofa. I made sandwiches. On the other hand, he played a lot of Uno with my then littles, so it was even. And then he died, young, of melanoma, so I felt I had at least done my part in taking care of him.
ReplyDeleteNot to say you should think that way, just that I can't tell the story without including the end.
Yes who is Pippa Middleton!!
ReplyDeletethe basket is perfect
xx
Is the Manhattan brother also cursing the lack of Chinese restaurants open at 4 am? (Manhattanites are known for that sort of thing).
ReplyDeleteLove the bag! If you're going to be sweaty and irritable, it's always best to be toting a great bag.
That basket is excellent, I just need to find one at a car boot sale, perfect for lugging supplies around a festival. x
ReplyDeleteVery funny! Sounds like you have your hands full at yours.
