Streep Style
According to my calculations, Meryl Streep celebrated her 62nd birthday last week. Happy Birthday Meryl, hope Peter Jensen sent you something from his 2012 Resort Collection! The Danish designer has chosen Meryl as his muse for a range of seventies-inspired pieces in a retro-tastic colour palette. That's Not My Age loves Streep Chic. You can't beat the paired-down, tomboyish-feel of a classic trench, skinny ankle-crop trouser and simple shirt - a grown-up, mannish look that's totally in keeping with Phoebe Philo's CĂ©line Classics for autumn 2011.
Here's a photograph taken on the set of Kramer vs Kramer in 1979 and a neat blazer and shirt from Jensen's collection:
Streep won an Academy Awards for best actress in Kramer vs Kramer and apparently, in all the excitement, left it on the back of a toilet in the ladies' room. Not quite sure where her Sophie's Choice Oscar ended up.
I'll definitely be doing Streep Style, will you?
Thank you to young blogger Glitterbird for the head's up on the collection.

Definitely!! I lover her style and the way she embraces ageing...she is a wonderful role model...she's so honest about ageing and enjoying her age and not succumbing to plastic surgery...and she looks absolutely stunning...beautiful lady.
ReplyDeleteLovely post :)

There's something about Meryl, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteThe Bridges of Madison County has to be one of my favourite films ever. I cried buckets!
She just gets more beautiful with age. I love grey and mustard together, that dress and those shoes are gorgeous. x
ReplyDeleteI agree with Vix -- she looks even better now than she did while younger! I love her style, too. While I've never felt that classic/minimalist chic is quite right for me, I agree that those looks are just wonderful. I always admire others who wear them well. They are perfect for Meryl!
ReplyDeleteIts fantastic, and inspiring, to see a happy-with-life, lived-in, face.... a total contrast to my experience in Poundland today, flicking through Toyah Wilcox's plastic surgery (with photos) autobiography - ugh!
ReplyDeleteShe is one of my very fave actresses. Love her style and she is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove Meryl Streep, always have. Her face just gets more and more interesting. Those clothes are quite beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteShe is indeed a very interesting woman. Great inspiration for the fashion shoot. It is nice to be back. But am in a very slow mo right now. Am finding it very hard to get myself moving. I have wanted to sleep for the past 2 hours - missing my siesta.
ReplyDeleteWhen are you free? Xxxx
Fantastic woman!
ReplyDeleteStreep chic....I love it and I have always loved her style and looked to her for inspiration. This post really excites me...how smart of this designer to do a line in her honor!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you will come over to my site and join in with the ACCESSORY SWAP!! This is just a fun way to spice up summer and get to know other bloggers better.
I would love to have you participate.

i love any tomboy style. she looks absolutely fantastic. so yes, i'm in.
ReplyDeleteInspiring...she has aged so honestly, but why go so far back in her career?
ReplyDeleteLove the photos and 'Streep Style.' One example of many to aspire to in our '60's and beyond.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection and a really different colour palette.
ReplyDeleteI've always liked her style and she looks just as good now as she did when she was younger.
I love the look. Very clean, simple and sophisticated. I am becoming very attracted to Danish designers. First I discovered the St. Tropez label (despite the name it is Danish not French). Then a couple of days ago I bought a great parka in the sales by "Creenstone" (in fact Dutch not Danish) at Fenwick. I will be checking them out again. Also Ilse Jacobsen is good for interesting sturdy outerwear.
ReplyDeleteHi my dear-wow, the collection is very inspirational and stylish, Meryl is a perfect muse and oozes class and chicness, fabulous pieces indeed xx
ReplyDeleteWow - a fabulous collection - these are pieces that have my name on them too - very wearable. In fact just up my street (or Streep, - sorry!) X
ReplyDeleteShe's amazing xx
