The J. Crew denim shirt

J Crew classic chambray popover, available HERE

I have an admission, I've been doing double denim again. Or denim on denim as they say in the States, think I prefer that. In the words of the great Edwyn Collins, I can't help myself. It's never very becoming to boast, but after spotting a J.Crew western-style denim shirt for £98 at the London store opening, I held out till my New York Christmas trip and managed to snaffle one for $23 in the sale. What a gift. Thank you Jenna. The J.Crew western denim shirt is the same style as the one below but in a slightly darker wash. It's a lovely weight, slightly heavier than my other denim shirts and perfect for now. So I've been wearing it non-stop. With white jeans a la Emmanuelle Alt, a pair of worn-out indigo jeans (it's only a matter of time before they're completely crotchless) and my J.Crew coated black denim Toothpicks. In order to give my New Favourite Shirt (NFS) a break, I'm thinking of buying the lovely chambray popover style (above). At £78 it's not so quite so pricey as the western style. Might even pay full whack this time.

  1. Good luck with the move - we will follow you there! I adore a denim shirt with just about anything, including double-denim, and can you advise how I can look like Kate M? xo

  2. Good luck with the move. Although WP took some getting used to, I'm ultimately happy with it. Lovely denim on denim! I've been eyeing that popover top, one of the few denim shirts without double boob pockets.

  6. Good luck with the move!
Denim shirts are something I so often admire on others, yet have never ended up comfortable in myself. Like the white shirt. And yet I feel the tug, thanks to your post, to try yet again. . . . must resist. . . .

  9. Love my denim shirt to bits. I wear it with black jeans and white jeans but I haven't been brave enough to do the Canadian tux ...

  10. Yes, I really need to try harder to find a chambray shirt I like. I prefer the softness of chambray to denim, but they both look good. Glad to see denim on denim is acceptable!

  11. Love denim shirts and my favorite is a cotton/tencil blend or something that never needs ironing. The top J Crew one is my fave here. I like the no pockets and the popover style is cute. I think you can wear 2 denims!

The Rich Life's Adrienne moved to WP recently and seems to like it. Good Luck.

  17. editor of that blog - I keep hearing you can do more stuff with Wordpress, though I'm a complete technophobe so probably won't! And it seemed like a good idea at the time...

  19. LOL!!! Kudos to you for exploring. I am sure it will be fine.
(In all honesty, I mostly laughed because I am likely to buy a new pair of frames this month and I suspect when I bring them home, "it seemed like a good idea at the time" will be my explanation.)

  20. Love your selection here. Denim and chambray are so incredibly versatile at any age and always looks fabulous when worn by those with a dash of penuche.
Hmmm, most of my favourite bloggers are moving to word press. Am I missing something here? Warm regards.
