The Good Housekeeping Best Dress List
That's me in Good Housekeeping magazine. Must tell my mum. About 10 years ago, I was fashion editor of the magazine but left (after seven years) to go freelance. All of my colleagues from that time have moved on, so I have no Good Housekeeping ties and it was strange to receive an email from the current fashion editor asking if I'd like to be involved in the magazine's 'Best Dress' shoot for April issue. My stint on the magazine was before the internet went pop, and I can distinctly remember the switch from having models on the cover to celebrities. I can also remember the editor suggesting one day that we should do a photo shoot where the fashion editor wore the clothes. At the time I was mortified, but now when you look at what's happened with blogging and street style photography and fashion editors as style icons, I think she was ahead of the game.
The Best Dress List also features fellow bloggers Jane and Amanda from The Women's Room and Catherine from Not Dressed As Lamb. And I'm wearing a Winser London shirtdress over a pair of my old Levi's.
Let's talk about flares another day...
You look great! The tunic/flares/heels is a stylish combo. Yes, do please let's talk about flares - just got a pair of major flares and love them!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, I love that style and it suits you so well!
ReplyDeleteI have just ordered another pair of flares...

Very cute pic AW! You may have been the inspiration for Hillary Clinton's pantsuit fetish...if only she had your panache!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, and congratulations, Alyson! You look like a million bucks (or even better, pounds sterling). xo
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! Congratulations!

ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to see your wry self, and your style, and front and center.

ReplyDeleteAlyson, You're a rock star!
ReplyDeleteMy book(s) haven't arrived so I can't (yet) write about what I know from the teaser on Amazon is a brilliant book.
Oooops, I mean't your books. But I was saying your books, which will be my books -- because I ordered them -- have not arrived.
ReplyDeleteWhen I just read back on the above comment I cringed, but I know you understood what I was saying.
Loving this outfit! I never thought that a dress over jeans could look classy (as opposed to "I got dressed in a hurry"). Thanks for expanding my horizons!
ReplyDeleteTish - I'm so sorry, you should have received a review copy. Have emailed the publisher and asked them to send immediately
