The perfect ankle boot from Toast

Knee boots might be back but I've been on the look out for the perfect pair of ankle boots. I'm after a black, heeled design to elevate my everyday uniform. APC ran a fantastic version last year, but unfortunately I was in-between sizes (this happens, a lot). And no matter what a whippersnapper shop assistant says, I am not going to (a) buy smaller and wait for the leather to expand/my toes to drop off or (b) buy larger and wear insoles or thick socks. I like my shoes to fit. Acne's Pistol Boots are good, though they're not so comfy for running around in. I have my sights set on the Elba boot from Toast, £195 available HERE. It comes in Spanish Nubuck and has a manageable Cuban heel. I'll let you know how I get on...

That's me in my Acne Pistol Boots

What kind of boots are you wearing this winter?

  1. Don't you look fab?
I'm never after anything, I just snap up what pops up in the charity shops. This morning I found a pair of 1970s Trueform tan leather knee highs with stack heels so they're my latest wardrobe update. Gawd, does that mean I'm "on trend?" Perish the thought! xxxx

  2. Those are cute, love the strap action. You look great in your Acne's. I've actually been on the hunt for a pair of ankle boots in that color for a couple of years now.

  3. You look great! I'm looking for flat Chelsea boots in black that's all as have the low heeled ones and with laces in brown already. But the toe shape has to be right as well.

  6. I do like "our" Acnes, but you're right that they're not so good for a high-mileage day. My hair stylist has a fabulous, fabulous pair of Frye ankle boots with a lower high that I covet. And my daughter has a pair of Rachel Comeys that tick those boxes as well. My black ankle boots are a pair of Ink boots (Italian apparently) that I picked up in Paris 3 or 4 years ago -- mine are a laced pair (Oxford-style) slim profile, almond toe, wear them at least twice a week. Good luck finding your perfect pair.

  9. Great suggestion. I think the Toast boots are very cute and the right height. Also like the Pistols on you. I now live in two pairs, the Sam Edelman suede ankle boots with a similar heel , but a bit lower and also a pair of Hunter ankle wedge rubber ones that are so comfy. I have to say I am addicted to ankle boots. They are easy to throw on and make everything look chic!

  11. I'm still wearing (and loving) my black Cole Haan ankle boots that I bought two years ago. They are casual, low- heeled, and with a Nike Air rubber sole (I just noticed that, actually) they are great for NOT slipping in winter. Even though I live in Canada, I never wear winter boots....well, except for ski boots. Good luck with your search!

  12. I love those boots. I just found brown and black Paul Green ankle boots with a similar heel at, of all places, TJ Maxx. They are comfy and elevate all my casual winter outfits. Can't wait to wear them! Happy hunting!
