As I was walking past the M&S Marble Arch store t'other day, this fantastic flame red cocoon coat caught my eye. I nipped inside to have a closer look; it has a lovely mohair-y texture, a belt detail at the back and really is fantastic. And another thing... the flame red cocoon coat is Per Una. The popular, Nancy-Dell'-Olio-on-a-budget, M&S sub-brand has recently been repositioned and is aiming for more chic than chintz. I'd wear this. And I don't think I've ever said that about anything from Per Una before.

This reminds me of my red Italian wool single-button coat - also from M&S - that I bought in their end-of-winter sale 18 months ago for £19.50! (Original price £79). Why have their prices gone up so much?

ReplyDeleteI once had a pair of pink per uno slippers.......... and a long dark green cord coat very like the one Ms Rampling wore in Sous Le Sable!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I loved it and ordered the coat. (It arrived VERY fast! Free shipping! Wow!) Beautiful soft fabric and lining, but frankly I didn't think it was finished very well. The belt on the back would have needed re-tailoring. Unfortunately on me, I looked like a GIANT tomato. The worst part however is that return shipping to the UK from US was more than $50 least expensive option with no insurance or tracking, so I have re-packed it and will attempt to send it for less, minus the heavy cardboard box and fancy designer hanger.) Never again! Learned my lesson...
