There's a new model agency in town: Mrs Robinson Management. And as the name aptly suggests it represents models of a certain vintage, including lovely Jean Woods from Fabulous Fashionistas.
Alongside other gorgeous grey-haired beauties, including Tanya Drouginska and Pia Gronning.
I've written an article about older models for the latest issue of Saga magazine - I keep meaning to tell you that I now write a monthly style column for Saga, but it's subscription only and the fashion content is not online at the moment. I'm hoping it will be soon, when the company drags itself into the 21st century. Anyhow. My latest article came about when I met Rebi Merilion, one of the founders of Mrs Robinson, for coffee. We realised that we'd worked together in the olden days when I was a fashion editor and Rebi a model. The 47-year-old is still modelling today and looks better than ever, if you ask me.

Rebi set up Mrs Robinson with business partner and model booker Fleur Brady, when I asked her how she felt about Botox and the industry pressure to stay looking young she told me, 'I feel quite strongly about Botox, I would never go there. It can't stop the ageing process - we'll all be old eventually - and I'd rather not be panicking about my wrinkles every three months!'
Here's to you Mrs Robinson.
Lovely women, how vital and gorgeous they look! I hope there's a good demand for these "certain age" models. I sure enjoy seeing women of all ages. (Now, if we can just get a little more size and ethnic diversity...)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteI watched a certain TV show here this week with a certain ex newscaster ( don't want to name her) and was shocked by her immobile forehead - there may be no lines but it is such an unattractive waxy look and why would anyone want to be devoid of expression.
What a wonderful idea.

I love to see women ageing gracefully like this and still maintaining a great sense of style. I also have a thing about grey hair - I absolutely love it!! I stopped dyeing my hair a couple of years ago. I think I have lots of silver hairs but not enough! lol I know, some people think I'm weird considering I'm only 38! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous post!

All these beautiful women show so much character and are so unique!
ReplyDeleteI really hope to see more women of a certain age in ad campaigns.

Congratulations on the column...would love to read it! These women are stunning. It is so exciting to see a modeling agency just for our ages!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, and beautiful faces. I think Anne Bancroft was about 38 when she played Mrs. Robinson. Hollywood!

This is so wonderful! All those women are stunning
ReplyDeleteGorgeous women!
ReplyDeleteAnd what beauties they are - and love the name Mrs Robinson Model Management - genius! Inspiring as always and growing old with grace becomes more appealing than ever!
ReplyDeleteIt's about time that botox got a bad name and ageing gracefully became acceptable again. Some of the women I most admire for their style and pure joie de vivre, Marianne Faithfull, Jane Birkin, Lauren Hutton, would never be pre occupied with such a futile pastime as trying to hold back the years. Be proud of the stripes you've earned, like these women, that's my new mantra now i've just turned 50! Good luck with the column for Saga, dare I say, I look forward to reading it :) X
ReplyDeleteI believe I modelled with some of these women for the Beauty Project at Selfridges when we took the store over for a catwalk/performance wearing vintage fashion on May 3rd. It's great to see more older models, it sends a positive message to all women of a certain age
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say? Hurray! Hurrah! It's about time! I'm excited... We (women of a certain age) can't all be models, but we can be role models. Onward!
ReplyDeleteExciting news! Thanks for keeping us up to date on the revolution.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with the Botox comment although I now spend quite a bit on good skin care products.
ReplyDeleteBravo Mrs Robinson Management! It's about time we saw older women modelling - beauty does not belong only to the young! I am 51 years old and would love to model to represent the older woman. I also have grey hair which I love - I even created a blog about it called 'Grey is OK!'. I have sent you an e-mail with photos for your consideration. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWonderful and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that at last age is just a number.
Great post

Beautiful women, so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Une Femme, but nevertheless, I enjoyed seeing these lovely models. Congrats on your column with Saga!! Would love to see it when you're on line. XXOO
ReplyDeleteThis is a very inspiring post, those ladies are fabulous
ReplyDeleteCool! Can't wait to see more of them - and very hopefully, more middle aged beauties as well.
ReplyDeleteThat's where I see a glaring dearth, that I'd like filled so I can relate more.
Funny as it's the middle aged bracket with the most spending power as well...
Great women, fabulous idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic news, at last it seems like the tide is changing! Let's hope we see more women of all ages in the media.
ReplyDeleteSo many women look even more fabulous as they age (more so than many men in my opinion). I was watching the BBC4 programme about Carole King the other night and she has improved so much with age. I love that!
ReplyDeleteHi I was wondering what model agency Rebi was being represented by?
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I'm hoping will probably be quickly, when the company drags itself into the twenty first century. Anyhow
