New friends in New York

One of the best things about blogging is the wonderful, like-minded people you meet. Yesterday, I had a fantastic time with some of my favourite online friends. Judith from the Style Crone who is just as beautiful and eloquent in real life, the fabulous Sue Kreitzman, so very generous and wise, and lovely, talented artists Carol Markel (Judith is wearing one of Carol's fantastic hats, above) of Femme et Fleur blog and her partner of almost 50 years Richard Cramer.
Sue and Carol

For me, two of the biggest highlights of the blog year (are blog years like dog years, I wonder?) have been talking at a conference with Ari Seth Cohen at London College of Fashion, where we chatted about style, age and culture:

And secondly, the Boden Hangout with Lauren Laverne. Where I talked some more about fashion and embraced Advanced Style to the max, in possibly the most colourful outfit I've ever worn...

I'm in New York for New Year and my 50th birthday (more of which later) - which unlike my 40th isn't scary at all. Thanks largely to all the the inspirational people I've met since I started That's Not My Age. As I've always believed: you don't have to have youth to have style. Bring on the next decade.

Happy New Year!

  9. Meeting fellow bloggers is the best part of blogging!
I can't deny I'd rather turned 41 than 51 recently but at least now I am used to the "5" ;-)
Happy New Year and Happy Birthday!

  17. Happy birthday and new year at once!

And, the 50s are good. Just have to exercise more and better to keep oneself from annoying injuries.

Seriously, that's it. Everything else is good.

  24. Hope you had a great time - loved following your exciting Birthday trip! I also turned 50 in 2013 - and I think I am (mostly) enjoying being older and more discerning - but that does not necessarily equal acting my age!!

I love your blog - its very inspiring and here's to an even better 2014.

  25. Happy birthday! I didn't find 40 or 50 to be very scary, but I have a little trepidation about reaching 60 in a few years. That starts to sound old. Thank god for inspiration from people like Judith, et al!
