I do sometimes worry that this blog is like the middle-aged equivalent of a teenager's bedroom wall - somewhere I post all my latest grown-up lady crushes and daydream about people I'm never going to meet. Et voila. This week's obsession: the eternally beautiful, talented and stylish, Françoise Hardy who has a lovely new chanson out today. Actually there's an album and a paperback both entitled L'Amour fou (Mad Love). Can't believe that this is the first time the 69-year-old Botox-free singer has appeared on the blog. I can only apologise for my carelessness, but I do think I deserve a round of applause for not posting a novelty protest song or even mentioning the overpriced military funeral coming soon. Anyhow, enough about that, let's listen to some decent music instead.
And to prove what enduring style she has, here are a few more gratuitous Hardy pictures...

Who's inspiring you this week?
She really looks amazing and far better than anybody with a face full of botox and a shiny forehead. I like her simple style and think that's one of the secrets to looking good: too much bling is ageing! Who's inspiring me this week? It's not even 8am on a Monday morning, to early to think about such heavy questions ;-)
ReplyDeleteIf the secret to aging beautifully is to be stunningly beautiful in the first place, what are the rest of us to do?
ReplyDeleteThat takes me back a few years. I have always liked her music. Recently while in France my husband asked what music I would like to listen to and I suddenly found myself saying Francoise Hardy. Needless to say he had never heard of her but found her on Spotify.
ReplyDeleteJust love the hair.
Fabulous woman! She knows how to wear black leather!
ReplyDeleteAnnette
Lady of Style
Proof positive that style is more substantial than a wrinkle-free forehead.
ReplyDeleteI was not familiar with her...she is stunning! Love her style and her inspiration. Thanks for introducing her to us!
ReplyDeleteTiffany - I hear you! And obviously yes it helps when you're stunningly beautiful to start with - I just like the fact that she hasn't felt the need to mess with her face unlike lots of other celebrities of a certain age.
ReplyDeleteShe looks fabulous!

Laura Linney
Collette Dinnigan
Caroline of Monaco
Maya Plisetskaya
Ellen Degeneres
Annette Bening
Kristen Scott thomas
Una Stubbs
She looks great, especially in that tux - what a gorgeous young woman too.
ReplyDeleteOh do mention the overpriced military funeral, go on do!
I think she looks more stunning now than she did when young. More like a person and not a Barbie doll/interchangeable whatever. Agree with Kristen Scott Thomas and Laura Linney, two of my favorite women in acting. Annie Lennox. Oh, to have her bone structure....
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog...how inspiring! Thank you from Berlin
ReplyDeleteTNMA, you are right, of course. I can name innumerable beautiful women who have taken the intervention route as they've aged and look far less gorgeous than FH. I suspect there's a 'middle' stage where things start to slide, and if one can soldier on through that, at the other end is a well-earned 'glamour' that is a million times better than a smooth forehead ...
ReplyDeleteWhy are you mentioning the "song du jour" or tghe high priced military funeral at all? Surely this is not a politital post?
ReplyDeleteA beauty. Hard to believe she is 69!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous52 - thank you so much for the list. Some of my favourites there too & a couple of inspiring woman I need to check out.
ReplyDeleteHello Lisa and welcome!
Eleni - thanks for commenting. I follow politics, current affairs & popular culture quite closely and this is a subject I've been discussing with friends - a lot! - over the last week. Whilst this is a lifestyle blog, I like to feed other issues in too.
Maybe it's my own age showing, but she looks even more stunning today. Very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter inspires me. and I come a close second.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful then and now!
ReplyDeleteOMG, FH looks fabulous. My mum and I are the very proud owners of a signed album from her as my mum worked in Paris in the 60s and worked in a certain couture house which made clothes for her. They clicked during fittings and Francoise gave my mum her latest record. I remember listening to her in my bedroom on my old Alba record player when I was 7 and channelling French chic. Mum said she was a very sweet person. Still looks fantastic.
