Keep warm, stay chic

This week I've been layering to the max. Mostly Uniqlo Heattech underneath lightweight jumpers, but I've got my eye on this HotSquash thermal, keyhole top. Quite a neat way to keep warm and still look like you've got a waistline, don't you think? And I do love a knee-length sock, when it's chilly. Cashmere if poss. Eric Bompard and Johnstons of Elgin both do a top-notch stripy version. Brilliant when wearing (as I have been most of the week) skinny jeans tucked into knee boots. I know, how very Kate Middleton. I've been rocking around, quite literally, on my Rockport wedges. Much higher than I normally go - but incredibly comfortable. All. Day. Long.

As it's snowing quite heavily in London, I plan to stay indoors, a lot, this weekend. If only I had one of these cellular blankets from Scarlet and Argent. A lifestyle brand founded by Hainsworth, luxury fabric supplier to the Queen, whose cloth is made in a Yorkshire mill and used by Brit designers such as Paul Smith and Christopher Raeburn. I could totally channel Care Home Chic with this draped over my legs. But then, That Is My Age.

How will you be keeping warm this weekend?

  1. Hi there! I had those blankets when I was a kid, one in pink and one in brown which younger son now has! Love the keyhole top too x

  3. Great top and those blankets are gorgeous and retro-cosy. I have just made a 1.5 hour return (walking) trip to nearest supermarket for ESSENTIALS - namely milk and wine or is that wine and milk? Going to stay in for the rest of the weekend and get the fire going. Have a good one. X

  4. Those blankets are entirely and absolutely gorgeous. Wish I could justify one. Or maybe two or three.

Keeping warm this weekend with old but very useful silk longjohns. from Lands End I think, mis-matched with an Eileen Fisher silk longsleeved tshirt. Does it for me.

  5. Like the key-hole top very much. I'll be going with some gluhwein to keep me warm, and Origins heated warming hug wrap for my aching shoulders, and cosying on the sofa watching 'Homeland'. Happy warm weekend.

  7. Yes!! That is how I want my thermals to look. I wear one every night to bed but never out in public. This one I would wear everywhere. Why do comfy clothes have to look sloppy and sports clothes look sporty. Why can't they all look elegant like this?? I hope this is the direction casual clothes will be going!!!!

  8. Snowing in London, fires in Australia, freezing fog here in Oregon - ugh.

I still have one of those blankets, which my parents got ages ago. Mine is not such a pretty color, though.

How am I staying warm this weekend? Hot flashes.

  9. Oh my, I totally need 2 of those S&A blankets in white... here is so hard to find anything white below $500 (usually ebony, ivory or cream) so even with shipping overseas, it will be worth.

  10. I LOVE the blanket. I am having to cover myself with a blanket when driving in my 24 year Fiat Panda as the heater has given up, I have a nice re-cylced Welsh wool one but I may have to upgrade X

  11. It's all about my Woolrich jacket with the hood up at all times, plus TWO cashmere scarves to keep my neck breeze-free!

  12. I love that skirt and the colour combo. We're having a rare and weird break from bitter cold. It's a balmy 4c so I'll be breaking out the bikini. ;)

  13. I like layering; don't get to do much of it where I live.
    Lovely color, that top.

  14. One or my new year resolutions was to avoid being a sclumpadinka but it is so cold that has gone out the window. I am now just trying to stay alive...

  15. I found a bargain 'duvet' coat last week in JL - makes me look like an immersion heater but I don't care. It's the warmest thing I've ever owned and that's as chic as it gets for me!

  16. The boots are so beautiful, yet warm. What a combo. There you go with another great tip - will have to explore the cashmere socks.
