Cane and Able.

Countess of glamour: Lynn Dell.

Now, I'm no expert on walking sticks (what my American followers call canes), though I used one once when I broke an ankle and the hospital had run out of crutches. It was about as much use as a broom handle. I wobbled about for days. So, I do appreciate that when it comes to something as important as a walking aid, good design and superior technology are key.

If I had to use one again, I'd go straight to cane-makers OMHU. Using birch wood for the handle, bicycle-grade aluminium for the shaft and hiking boot material for the tip -  their sticks are the perfect blend of form and function, and look pretty snazzy if you want my opinion. It's no surprise that the New York-based company asked Ari Seth Cohen, champion of Advanced Style to shoot a campaign using some of his gorgeous friends (see the lovely Lynn Dell above). Proving that style, grace and mobility are important whatever your age.

  2. Oh my friend .. this is a perfect post and timing. Since my accident and learning to walk again... it has been strongly recommended that I use a cane (as my ankle gives out without notice)to help my balance ... but I have not found one with style or attitude and have relied heavily on store carts and we even got Dolce (our Yorkie) a stroller for mall walks (ok shopping..lol) - ...

this may just be the answer... The colours and shape are brilliant... loving the light blue and purple ones!!! I will check them out...xo HHL

  3. The canes are stunning. Having worked in health care most of my life I appreciate a mobility aid or 'walking accessory' that is not only functional, but attractive as well.

  5. My other hip needs replacing soon so I'll be needing one of these pretty soon. Much funkier than the standard NHS fare! x

  6. Lovely walking sticks. There was a time when a gentleman would never been seen out and about without his cane - sometimes concealing a sword.

  7. I like cane better than walking stick - sounds more distinguished somehow - an accessory rather than a crutch. Those canes are very dandy!

  8. I had always had a thing against over the knee boots....until I saw a photo essay on Dell a while back. She is able to wear those boots with a sophistication that could not be replicated on a woman 1/3 her age. I am rethinking my prejudice and looking forward to the tall boots of my future. Great post!
