Quote of the week: Valérie Trieweiler
Think it's about time That's Not My Age said a big bonjour to Valérie Trierweiler. France's new Premiere Dame is smart, elegant and principled. As well as representing her country, the 47-year-old journalist intends to continue working, once slapped a colleague for saying something sexist and when Paris Match (the magazine she writes for) used the coverline 'Hollande's charming asset,' tweeted: "Bravo Paris Match for its sexism...my thoughts go out to all the angry women.'
She rules.
Premiere Dame Valérie Trierweiler (PDVT) told the Times this week:
'This new role makes me a little uncomfortable but I will manage very well if it is not limited to just that. I want to represent the image of France, do the necessary smiling, be well dressed, but it shouldn't stop there. I will not be une potiche (trophy wife).'
And if you're wondering what's in PDVT's wardrobe,' For the moment I dress in pret-a-porter. Lately it has been Georges Rech and Apostrophe, which are quality brands that I have been wearing on television. I have never worn dresses by grands couturiers.'
So, unlike her predecessor there's no bling and no Botox. Don't know about you but Carla Bruni's swollen face was starting to scare me.

Is the new First Lady also taller than her husband?
ReplyDeleteI know absolutely nothing of her yet.
Now I wonder what´s going to happen to Carla Bruni - will the marriage last?
At last attitude, style & non materialism - perfect!
ReplyDeletei really know nothing about her but from what you just wrote, she does rule.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for Carla, having a sulky Sarko skulking round the house in his tracky bottoms singing It Should Have Been Me, can't be much fun.
ReplyDeleteI am so laughing at Lilac's description of Mr. Sarkozy! The new First Woman looks and sounds smashing.
ReplyDeleteI think she will be fun to watch..and I agree..Carla needs to take a rest from whatever she is doing.
ReplyDeleteJeanne :)
Yes, Carla was looking pretty scary. As an American it's always a treat to see how grownup French women dress and act.
ReplyDeleteI also had to chuckle at Lilac in May's comment.
ReplyDeleteBut I just wanted to say congrats for being mentioned in the AARP blog, along with some other fabulous bloggers. They featured Judith Boyd of Style Crone.com.
All the best,
