Spread the Warmth

Did you know that Friday 10 February is Age UK's Bobble Day? An annual fundraising event where people are encouraged to get their woollies out, wrap up warm (shouldn't be difficult at the moment, it's bloody freezing) and donate money to charity. And this year, as part of the Spread the Warmth campaign, a team of talented knitters from Grannies, Inc have been clicking away to create a limited edition bobble hat:

Meet Granny Patsy

and Granny Holly.

Hats cost £35, are 100% merino wool and £8 goes towards the campaign to help prevent older people suffering and dying during winter. It's a brilliant idea, isn't it? So, come on put your hand in your pocket and Spread the Warmth!

Click here to donate. Click here to add a bobble to your Twitter photo and here for the Facebook 'Knit Me' app. And, er, get knitted.

  1. Brings me back to elementary school trauma of having one's hat snatched from one's head by mean kids!

  4. Reminds me of my Great Auntie Vi knitting me a bright orange jumper and bobble hat to match! Neon before neon was trendy!

  5. A great fund raising idea - as long as the fluffy knobs on the hats aren't mandatory. As a child I would cut off my pom poms in fear of looking like a circus clown!
Hand knitting appears to be coming more popular, at for its therapeutic value, if not for its fashion statement!
    Warm regards.
