Martin Margiela Carpet Boots

Look at these magic carpet boots from Maison Martin Margiela. Beautiful aren't they?  Sitting happily in the middle of the fashion/interiors venn diagram, they'd be right at home at That's Not My Age Mansions. And, as January is all about staying in, carpet boots feel like the perfect footwear for lolling and lounging and looking good.

Just like the rug in the Big Lebowski, these boots could really tie an outfit together. The Persian carpet colour scheme, with its indigo blue highlights, means they'd look fantastic with jeans.
Classic J Brand jeans.

And as January is the Sunday morning lie-in to December's Saturday night out, let's add a cashmere sweater.
Striped sweater by Chinti and Parker.

Or a bath robe if you really want to do it like the Dude. But for a trip out - in a parallel universe where I can actually afford designer clothes - I'd throw on the gorgeous Haider Ackermann jacket that Tilda wore. With jeans of course:

How would you wear a pair of carpet boots?

  1. Oh far, far too beautiful to actually wear! I would display them somewhere where they would be appreciated and admired........

  3. I saw those boots and had to say out loud "I need those!" I'd probably never wear them for fear of a spot. But they'd look perfect with my skinny jeans and suede jacket . . . today.

  7. The carpet booties appeal to me too, perhaps because they remind of our oriental rugs.
The cashmere knit is not bad either..

  10. O SWOON, dark tights and a plainish skirt and top, those puppies don't need anything to detract from them.

  11. Gorgeous! Not for my rainy climate, though, but if we're pretending. . . let's see. . .I think I might try them with a sweater dress or shift (with sleeves, bien sûr chocolate brown or black, burgundy if I felt bold . . .midnight blue? Even the right red . .
and I love that cashmere sweater.

  12. LOVE! I'd wear them with coloured opaque tights and a really simple, casual skirt and tshirt, maybe with that cashmere sweater on top. Would make my legs look like tree trunks though, so my version would be a bit more low-cut, like a shoe-boot affair. Ooh, or a kind of engineer boot with a boxy toe!

    They are fab.

  13. I'm surprised, but I also like them. I wouldn't worry about wearing them out, I think they'd look better, just like oriental rugs do.

  15. the boots ARE amazing. Why not buy them and park them in the middle of your rug. The husband might never know you've splurged.

  17. Carpet boots? Well, I never!! That means I would if I could! Just where to find them, how to afford them, when to wear them.... so many unanswered questions.
