That's Not My Age is moving...

Photo: Tim Walker

I'm moving, this week. Details to follow. Finally. After a lot of faffing and financial woe (but that's another story, and one that I will tell), I'm going over to WordPress. Initially planned last summer, I had to postpone the move and get on with writing Style Forever. To be honest, after seven years on Blogger I'm slightly nervous about the shift. Mainly because I'm worried that it'll be like the olden days, just me behind the dashboard talking to myself. I love having such a loyal following and your comments are always appreciated. So, please come with me...

 Very best, Alyson  x

  1. All the best with it. I don't understand the fascination with Wordpress myself. Blogger is so comfy, and I hate having to sign in to comment on Wordpress. I'll remain a loyal follower though! Mimi xxx

  2. I do like Blogger, a lot. And yes, the signing in thing is annoying - oh no what have I done?!

  7. This reminds me of the song from the early 80's.......If You Leave Me, Can I Come Too?.......... I can't recall the name of the band.

I love your blog, so I'll see you there :-))))

    Regards,
    Nancy

  8. Based on your track record so far I am sure this move will be a success as well! Change is scary but so is not growing.

  9. Change is always a bit bumpy, but Wordpress has so many great features I've never looked back.

  14. It is a bit of a faff but you should be able to transfer all your followers without loosing any.

  15. Wordpress would make your blog yours versus a blog on someone else's space. It's like owning property versus renting, which gives you long-term control. Also, it's getting easier and easier to leave comments. It's super easy if your followers are on Facebook and that's even better for you because their comments can be seen by their friends. I suggest you get a responsive design. Google favours sites that can be read on mobile and tablets. Wordpress is easy once you learn it by the way. I actually learned how to use it to post my blogs. Plus I eventually downloaded a template on my own (horrid experience mind you!)

  17. I have just finished building my new blog on Wordpress. Betterhealth45.com (shameless plug, I know) I agree with a previous comment, it will be your own site. I especially like using a simple .com at the end the address, easier for users to find and remember. I would recommend grabbing your comfy slippers and a cup of tea, getting started is time consuming but you will get the hang of it quickly. If I can do it, anybody can :) I love your blog as so many others do, we will most certainly follow you to your new blog home.

  19. I actually have two blogs. The first one is about Spain and particularly the town of Jumilla, where I live, and it was set up by my publisher. "Spain Uncovered" is on Wordpress and, as others have said, once you get used to it you'll be fine.

My other blog is "Over 60 and Over Here", which is more to do with fashion and beauty, though not exclusively. I developed that myself using Blogger and, being honest, I find that easier to use. However, as others have mentioned, Wordpress has many advantages. As you won't be flitting between two blogs like me, I'm sure you will soon be a Wordpress expert!

As for losing your readers - sorry, but you can't get rid of us that easily! We'll find out where you are and follow you there.......

  20. i moved to wordpress in january after 8 yrs on blogger
only a few days of sorting and it all worked out. it's a more efficient platform. you'll be fine - just redirect via a post on this blog and make it private to you when you migrate.

  21. Exciting and of course we will follow. I have pondered switching myself because I like the larger photos and cleaner look, but so far haven't. I was worried I don't have the time to learn it all, but maybe someday. Best of luck!
