Yes, these look fresh and chic (I give some credit to the wearer, naturally). I wore white jeans yesterday but did not look as elegant. Must convert to French! xo
I've loved white jeans forever. I plan to wear my cropped boyfriend cut from last year again this summer. And I have Hudson boot cut from two years ago (or maybe three) which are slim through the upper thigh and which look similar to the pair that Ines is wearing. Here's to not "recycling" them. And here's to dreaming about white jeans (and summer) as I bundle up to head out into the -25 temperatures!
Where I live EVERY man, woman, and child, wears blue jeans. So I wore WHITE. Now that it is trendy to wear white I have put mine away and am now wearing all skirts and dresses with textured tights. So much more comfy than jeans and so much more fun to create outfits. I think white jeans look best skinny so as not to look like Popeye the sailor man.
For the boot cut (or its cousin, the trouser jean) to look good, the top has to be fitted- either a tailored shirt like Ines' or a tightish tee. Many women at or past middle-age can't wear that. Skinny and straight leg jeans will accept a tunic top, which is not so demanding.
I used to really like my Citizens of Humanity Ingrid jeans for being very fitted through upper leg, gently flared blow. . . not sure they're still available. I might try to hunt out a pair of slightly flared, perhaps boot cuts now that I've lost the tummy bulge. As Duchesse suggests, I had moved to the skinny jean in deference to a need to cover up the muffin top! Love the look of the white jean, but completely impractical for the dirt-road part of my commute. . .
I was going to say what Duchesse said - it's to do with the balance of top and bottom and there's not that many people it's going to work for. It looks great on the tall, slim type; I'm skinny but too short to wear it well (or confidently).
I was put in mind of the song / poem / hymn 'Glad That I Live Am I' by this report of a return to flares. 'After the sun the rain, after the rain the sun…', and was moved to write my own version.
Glad that I dress am I That the denim's blue Glad for the woollen socks And the drape and hue After the flares the drain After the drain the flares This is the fashion life 'Til the cut is done All that we need to do Be we street or haute Is to see that we dress In a stylish coat.

Happy to see them. So tired of skinny jeans.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for a flattering trouser in white denim. It feels fresh.
ReplyDeleteI still love the skinny jeans! But these look so good I might give them try.
ReplyDeleteThis post proves that whoever said ' if you haven't worn something in 2 years you should get rid of it' was just wrong. Thank goodness for hoarding!

ReplyDeleteYes! J Brand bootcut. Skinny leg style looking v. old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteAgree Claire - I'm so bored with that super-skinny/legging/jegging style.

ReplyDeleteI would copy Ines if I had her figure alas I might be in trend again bc I couldn't ever wear skinny jeans anyway and that name was never appropriate!
ReplyDeleteLove the cut on these! I'm still hunting for a pair of flares/bootcuts that are slim on the upper leg. Not an easy find.

ReplyDeleteI'm still in my skinnies but if Ines is wearing the bootcut style... :)

ReplyDeleteKind of loving this look and so ready for a change! Love everything Ines wears.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!

I'm kinda partial to a skinny bootcut hybrid, but flares are fun, too. Around here I see all types of jeans - maybe we should just wear what we want!
ReplyDeletewell it had to happen right?
ReplyDeleteNot sure about bootcut jeans. Technically they should flatter my figure but feels a bit retro.

Oh non non! Even on Inès, it looks passable so I will stick to the slim 7/8 version.
ReplyDeleteI am using Japanese Full Count. it is cost saving and of good designs.
