Boden does Parisian Chic



Has anyone else noticed that the Boden catalogue has gone all Parisian Chic for spring? When Ines de la Fressange published her style guide last year, grown-up women swooned. A Mexican wave of approval swept the blogosphere as we all agreed we wanted to look like Ines. Be like Ines. And so, here we have un petit hommage. Shot in the French capital, on a gorgeous model (quite similar to Ines' daughter Nine, don't you think?) wearing timeless basics - the blazer, the tan leather jacket, the jeans - to create that pared-down, 'made in Paris' look. 






Meanwhile, in an intriguing sartorial twist over at the haute couture shows last week, Ines de la Fressange swapped Parisian Chic for English Heritage:


Make that flannel, corduroy and tweed. Maybe she's working on another style guide? What do you think?

    They (Boden) certainly seem to be trying, but looking at the pieces more closely, I see detailing that nixes it for me. The white topstitching on the blue jacket, the too-twee buttons on the coat.

    And Ines...I love English Heritage but think she's lost the plot here. Even so, she's probably having fun with it, so E for Effort.

    I love that Ines can have fun with clothes! It's wonderful.

    Meanwhile, the Parisian Chic styling is great for disseminating the aesthetic. I like it much more than the over-stylized "I'm just throwing things together" of J Crew.

    Hmmm, I guess my eyes have seen a lot of Parisian Chic, because that English look Ines threw together looks very interesting right now (I'd forgo the flannel).

    Ines could wear a grain sack and make it look chic, as could her daughter. It's a great guideline for me, but like everything else, I have to tailor it for my body, or sometimes I feel maybe I should give up wearing just what makes me look slimmest, and have more fun?

    I know the whole Parisan look is the main idea in the blog, but love the mish mash of the English Heritage, shes looks gorgeous !

    I love the hobo vintage look and defo hats !!!

    Commenting a bit late again, but is that really Ines in the last picture?
    If so, bad, bad.
    The other clothes, shown above, look ok on just about any slim, nice looking girl. I would not suggest them for mature women.
    We have other brands to choose from.

    deja pseu - you're right, the detailing, it can be a bit twee and as we all know, less is definitely more.
