One of my favourite things to do on a Sunday is to nip across to Columbia Road in the East End of London. Like proper midlifers we like to spend time at the flower market, browsing an array of stalls and independent
shops selling overpriced homewares, prints and second-hand furniture. It's best to get there early. Oops.
After too much pink wine last night, Mr & Mrs That's Not My Age will be stopping off for a coffee here:
And buying some flowers.
And some cheese and olives:
One of my favourite shops is
B Southgate, furniture restorers.
Once we've done all that, it'll be time for lunch.
What's you favourite way to spend a Sunday?
In bed!
ReplyDeleteHowever this really does look worthwhile getting out of bed on a Sunday for!
I can say with certainty that getting up early to drive 7+ hours home from a week-long vacation with inlaws is NOT my favorite Sunday plan.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, hmmm, favorite way would be one of 2 museums at home, followed by time to draw, OR one or 2 museums in London, with Maltesers in my bag for later, and time to draw.
It sounds just perfect. I have to come a visit you all, on my own, one day.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Sunday.
We get up with the air conditioning, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
That looks like absolute perfection especially the cheese and olive bit!
ReplyDeleteMy perfect sunday would normally be cidered up at a festival or doing the flea market in Goa but eating buttered toast in my dressing gown adn reading blogs is pretty okay, too. x
Lovely day out, we have fantastic Farmer's Markets with all this glory, but it's just not the same without my husband with me (to pay & carry things) so i tend to not wander & enjoy so much when i'm on my own. Love Posie
ReplyDeleteOnly been to Columbia Market once but really love it there. Plants and flowers are really a great way to liven up your home.
ReplyDeleteSunday favorites?
ReplyDeleteI like doing a bit this or that, or - nothing specific ; ).
Lovely, I adore picking at olives and buying flowers. My Sundays are usually spent mooching, the most I might do is go out for breakfast! x
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteCheese and olives, ahhh. We read the NY Times, drink a lot of coffee then usually head to the bookstore/s.

Spur of the moment things - lunch and an afternoon movie.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the Farmer's market in my neighborhood.
Having our grown kids over for a late lunch.
Your day sounds lovely.
Lovely photos! I'd like to do exactly what you've done today.
ReplyDeleteI am having East End withdrawal symptoms. Hope to get there next weekend. Xxxx
ReplyDeleteyes. i make this pilgrimage every sunday too.
ReplyDeletemaybe i'll run into you some day while i'm busy stalking fashionable folk.
Your day looks and sounds wonderful despite the previous evening! I too was nursing a headache – from only 2 glasses of quality wine. A stark reminder that 50+ is my age!
ReplyDeleteTruly, one of the loveliest Sunday spots in the world! I've had coffee at that very shop... then a picnic in the little park nearby. Any day with a flower market is fine by me. Alas, our Sunday was spent hiding from the 108F oven that is currently Austin, Texas. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteWe spent our Sunday much like you did, but in less picturesque spots!
ReplyDeleteYou don't want to know how I spent my Sunday, but it wasn't particularly fun. Involved a lot of typing.
ReplyDeleteYou got a linky for those shoes - cannot spot them on Frasers on line. Not showing up under Portas collection for me!
So many great stores. I need to get a bigger place just so I can go an thrifting, flea, awesome store excursion.
ReplyDeletethat sounds lovely when can we join you?
