My favourite shop: Fenwick

Metallic top: By Malene Birger from Fenwick.

Do you plan what's going to be featured on your blog? Or is it just stuff that pops into your head? My approach is fairly haphazard. Usually what's happening each week or random thoughts that have been brewing for a while. But then I also have a special notebook with a 'Things I Must Blog About' list, which I usually refer to when I need inspiration.

Top of the  list, and it's been there for some time now, is the fact that one of my favourite shops, Fenwick now has a website. The Bond Street Store is my guilty pleasure. There's a Blink concession, where I get my eyebrows threaded - I'm not capable of doing them myself these days, but that's another blog post - so obviously that means I have to visit on a regular basis. Any excuse. It really is grown-up shopping heaven. Always a pleasant experience and never too crowded. Perfectly edited fashion from American Vintage to Zoe Karssen. And a brilliant underwear department too. You can often find me browsing the sale rails, looking for a bargain or putting together my imaginary wardrobe. What's the equivalent of window shopping, on the inside?  The website launched a couple of months ago and is slowly growing in size. So, the good news is I can visit the store every day, even when I don't have unruly eyebrows.

Where do you like to shop?

  1. I am with you on this one. Fenwicks is also my favourite store. Plenty of choice but not too big and well laid out. I get overwhelmed in Selfridges and Harvey Nics. I am off there for a browse next Tuesday.

  4. Me too ! I love Fenwicks.Selfridges is too large and overwhelming, Harrods now vulgar, and Harvey Nicks too cutting edge for me. Fenwicks is a nice size. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, particularly in the lingerie dept, and it has Carluccio's in the basement for a good cappuccino.

  6. Totally agree with you. Love Fenwick and as you say it's not too large and crowded although have to say it has been far too long since I visited. Now I can get my fix through the internet... thank you.

  7. I have now 2 shops in Hki, where I splurge. Must visit the website you mentioned.
As to blogging, I seldom plan anything in advance. I blog, when I am inspired..

  8. I do not have a favorite store. I shop every weekend for the sport of it but hardly ever find anything of interest. The Fenwick website looks like the same as Macy's and Nordstroms and Saks here in the USA. Luckily I never find anything to splurge on. I do find items to splurge on at our local boutiques. I like items that are unique and different.

  9. Hi there-the only department store I have not checked out in London is Fenwicks, so this is a must next time I visit, but I will check out the website, thanks for the heads up on that. Much congratulations on the Marks & Spencer featue, I checked it out last night and thought it was fab-u-lous. I loved the grey sequin sweater, but alas is sold out in a 12 already!! Really great style tips, you are a really great inspiration and I love reading your posts. Funny and coincidental, I was in the dentist on Monday afternoon and picked up the Lady mag from Jan 2011-you were in there!! The blog I mean rather than you personally-you do get around my dear! Have a fab weekend xxx

  10. I love this outfit - is it from the Fenwick wesbite? - I've been eyeing that by Malene Birger and I'm dying to know who is behind that beautiful lace skirt!

  11. MyStyle - thank you. I didn't know I'd been featured in The Lady, can you go back to the dentist & nab that old copy for me please?!

Veshoevius - yes both are from Fenwick. The skirt is Zoe Jordan and brace yourself... it's not cheap (£459)

  12. oooh I agree!

I've loved Fenwicks since I used to bunk off school and go and look around when I was 16. Fast forward to 3 years living in Newcastle where it was the stylish department store and my love for it was rekindled.

I'll have to take a wander through Fenwicks the next time I'm in London.

  13. indeed, Fenwick is a lovely oasis of calm and the buy keeps getting better. I actually like the fact that it's empty so can you please stop blogging about it...
