Lingerie for grown-ups

That's Not My Cleavage. But that is my new matching lingerie set from Huit. It's called St Germain and is trés chic, n'est pas? When it comes to undies, I like a smooth silhouette so that usually means a t-shirt-style bra and mismatching pants. Leave the lace, frills and what-have-you to the 50 Shades brigade - which reminds me, the Blog Widower took me to see Jumpy last week. If you haven't seen this play yet and are in London, I urge you to go. There's a scene with Doon Mackichan in a basque that had me laughing so much, I nearly wet my navy plaid pants. Erm, That Is My Age. Anyhow. I'm always on the look out for interesting underwear that's not jet black or the colour of sticking plasters - and so this lovely checked design is right up my boulevard.

Huit is available from House of Fraser, and I've just noticed St Germain is in the sale! Might have to buy another set. I seem to be developing a penchant for French underwear - how about you? Where do you buy your pants?

  1. Hi there! Oh yes I love this, but one question-is the bra underwired? I am trying not to buy future bras with underwiring. Great checkered design and the knickers are so cute! The Lyn Harris perfume is great too, I would have had a couple more, they were all lovely xx

  2. I agree House of Fraser are great for undies. I've found their staff really good for advice (honest customer feedback).
For me I'm not keen on checks but I like the smooth finish.

  3. Love the Huit set just wish they did a size 30DD. Not many brands do except the expensive French ones.

  4. I've seen Jumpy and know exactly the scene you're referring to - it is indeed, screamingly hilarious! Lovely underwear, by the way.

  5. I must confess that I too tend to purchase practical undergarments. I hate to see panty lines or the oultine of bras under my clothes. This matching lingerie by Huit ticks all the boxes and is attractive as well..... if only I looked as good as the model when prancing around in my lingerie!

  6. Very nice. I could do with little spruce up in the underwear department too. Happy weekending.

  7. Love this elegant set! I am feeling a bit inferior in the lingerie department right now, with my worn, nude-ish underthings.

  10. I am totally going to investigate this now that I am aware. Me, who just spent 32 pounds on two four-packs of bras at M&S...in black, white, and "sticking plaster" beige. Booo-ring.

  11. You're on a roll, coining the snappy terms -- TNMC might be even better than DOTTY
And that's a very cute set -- I'd snap up another pair, were I you. I like to buy a 2nd pair of matching panties when I buy a bra, if that's remotely affordable. Nice to avoid resorting to those sticking-plaster-coloured ones.

  12. For me, the brand is Lise Charmel, definitely. As I wear simple clothing, I wish my lingerie to be the prettiest ever.
Nothing wrong with this bra, though the colors are a bit blaah, but the model of the panties is not to my liking.

  14. It's M & S for me, just for ease, really. I saw Jumpy last week, too, on Wednesday. And yes, that scene with the basque was too funny.

  17. Stunning pair! Shopping for lingerie is my wife’s and daughter’s obsession. They even have a separate closet for them. I like this set for my daughter. It’s a little conservative compared to the new design of lingerie nowadays. How was the fabric, by the way?

    here.
