Feelgood Fashion

Of course, wellbeing is not all aromatherapy oils and energy-boosting drinks, clothes have mood-enhancing properties too. I always feel pretty perky in my Burberry trench, quite cheerful in my black sequin jacket - that was until I saw Gary Barlow on the January cover of Esquire magazine...

And now it just feels wrong. Too showbiz. A bit naff. I need a subtle update, a classier shape, a less glitzy finish, like this Lurex print jacket from Comptoir des Cotoniers:

Good isn't it? Though at £170, I'll be considering the health of my bank account and waiting for the sales.

Do you have any mood-enhancing items in your wardrobe?

  1. Well, you don't evoke Gary one bit - you look fabulous and edgy and not a bit naff, although I have no idea what that word means. : >

  2. Almost everything in my wardrobe enhances my mood. Especially finding a great bargain! And of course, limitless accessories!

  4. You look great. And my Chanel jacket give me endorphins, even 15 years later...black, white, blocky, classic, straightforward.

  5. As above, I too do think you look great in the sequin jacket (though the Comptior one is a beauty) - Why do crappy male celebrities have to go around spoiling everyone's fun? It's just like the Russell Brand wearing Sass and Bide Black Rats - noooo!!

  6. I have a cowl neck, fisherman's rib sweater knitted for me almost 20 years ago by my mother-in-law. I'd picked the pattern from an elle magazine and blithely sent it off to her and it appeared a couple of months later. I wear it every time it's chilly or I'm under the weather and it wraps me up in its warmth. Now I know how much effort she must have made to make it for me, I appreciate it all the more.

  7. Love the Comptior jacket, just the right amount of bling without being over the top. If I did not have a similar one I would be very tempted.

  8. Gary doesn't wear his as well as you do and yours is far nicer too! Though rather like the Comptoir one... Picked up a grey sequin soft jacket from Zara (in Paris) when I was there recently and I love it to bits! X

  9. I've always wanted a sequin jacket, but agree I am totally put off now. Who the hell did the styling? for the sake of womankind and future sequin jacket purchases, shoot him/her!

  10. Every fall, when I pull out my old Moncler down coat, I feel s o good. Maybe my best, and most worn piece of clothing, ever.
Sequins. Fortunately I have no desire for them ; )

  11. Yes, I agree. Clothing has mood-enhancing properties. My hat room inventory can switch my brain in an instant!

  12. Oh, a great jacket absolutely has restorative properties! And I wouldn't worry about cover boy over there. It's not just the jacket, it's how you wear it. I'm sure you are in no danger of being... uh.... naff?

  13. Doesn't he look naff? I've gone right off him since that bitchy comment he made about Carol Decker on the X factor last week. You look a million times cooler although that £170 jacket is rather special. x

  14. Oooh, that Comptoir jacket is great, although I can't wear that shape. I've got a Smythe jacket (Canadian label) that looks tweedy grey at first, 'til you see the Lurex running throughout it. Sparkles up an outfit this time of year, which I appreciate. Black velvet leggings make me feel cozy AND festive. And now my new Marc Jacobs mouse shoes, studded black. Make me smile.

  15. Girl, you need to get your head examined -- your style doesn't resemble his AT ALL! Don't worry! Not that that new jacket isn't beautiful.

  16. Huh? You look fabulous! Don't give up on that jacket.
