The Italian Vogue editor and er, guest judge on America's Next Top Model, Franca Sozzani, sounds off about the state of fashion TV:
'TV shows about fashion are generally boring and with so many websites on the subject, unnecessary,' adding, 'Television is great. It makes you famous in a few seconds. It's like fashion. However both together haven't found the way to work. This requires an idea. A new one.'
And I'm inclined to agree. What do you think?

No fashion shows in Spain I am afraid to say. i wish they were...
ReplyDeleteCould you check for me "pull your socks up"´s blog.I am trying to leave a comment, but it is blocketed to me. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Un abrazo and thanks a lot about the Advanced Style-
Hmm, I don't know. I used to love Trinny and Susannah, they offered advice in a way that magazines simply couldn't. Gok was good when he began too, but the format has become stale recently. Could definitely do with a fresh idea for fashion tv.
ReplyDeleteSacramento - there's a gap in the market - let's create a Spanish fashion show! How good would that be?
ReplyDeletePenny - I like Trinny & Susannah's honest approach though sometimes they can be a bit bossy! And I agree about Gok, he has become quite clichéd
Hi there-yes I agree although not sure what to say as an alternative, I don't watch any of the Model shows, I prefer to see fashion online or in magazines
ReplyDeleteI don't watch tv period, so I can't comment, but there is typically lots of discussion about such shows on American blogs...and I miss being part of the discussion.
ReplyDeleteMmm I wonder what the answer is - the thread to bring them both together?
ReplyDeleteI do like Project Runway and ANTM!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Ex-Presso / Blog couture giveaway! I hope you'll win! ;)

I agree. We need more interesting stuff to watch. I am sorry I didn't meet you in London (this time)-I was flat strapped busy with the sisters and their kids. I do love London (despite the weather!) xxxx
ReplyDeleteGok was good but became formulaic and dull and Trinny and Susannah just wanted everyone over 40 to get bobbed hair cuts, wrap dresses and stretchy knee high boots.
ReplyDeleteI used to love that series on Channel 4 with Liza Tarbuck where they'd have three contestants and have budgets of £500, £250 and £50. Strangely the lowest budget one always looked the best. I think it worked because Liza didn't take herself too seriously. Fashion's frivolous and needs humour, I think that's why it fails on tv. xxx
PS I think we're on target for a photoshoot..hoorah!!
I agree. I feel even more strongly about reality TV shows. I worked as a celebrity booker for chat shows for years and I loved the days when stars were stars for a reason. Hope all's well with you xx
ReplyDeleteA long haired lady over forty looking lovely!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a TV. I catch up on the internet and like Gok's fashion fix and the Rachel Zoe Project. I also watched The City seasons 1 and 2 for Olivia Palermo's outfits. But apart from that there isn't much that would have me rushing to pay for a TV license any time soon.
