Classic Covers

Leather trousers may be a bit too try-hard for women of a certain vintage but chic accessories are not. For These are a few of my favourite things, Radley have added a couple of limited edition, grown-up gift ideas to their range of beautiful handbags, shoes and leather goods. This lovely, leather-bound painting box is a collaboration with art supplier Winsor & Newton, and to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Penguin Classic, a selection of embossed covers for three of the publisher's most popular books; Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice.

Available from mid-November at Radley.

Have you got a cherished classic you'd like to cover in leather?

  1. Their library based advertising has been wonderful lately hasn't it - I have a few adverts torn out to keep! Can't go past a lovely book cover.

  2. Oh, isn't that ad gorgeous? Frame worthy, almost.
Love the leather bound painting box, a couple of my pals are artists but much as I'd love to I don't think I could stretch to that level of generosity. xxx

  3. Penny - yeah the library ads are lovely.

Vix - the painting box would make a very special gift but it is a bit pricey (£99). Anyhow - you could make your art friends a patchwork cover!

  7. That painting box is gorgeous. I've been trying to find a pair of Helen Storey leggings which have leather on the front and another pair of Exté fake leather skinny trousers in my clear out but no joy yet. I was hoping I could still pull off this look. Not sure I want to go for the H&M fake leggings as I could look a bit mutton dressed as mutton! Have a great weekend xx

  9. I can never get enough in the way of quality journals. Another super supplier of leather-covered journals/address books etc is Oberon, who are based in the US.

    Beauuuuutiful!

  10. Persuasion by Jane Austen would be my favourite choice - though I am tempted of course by Pride & Prejudice. I never tire of Austen.

  11. I have these beautiful 30 year old paperback copies of Elizabeth Bowen's novels. Avon published these with very Harlequin Romance kind of covers (before the shirt-ripping kind). The paper is low grade and the binding cracks but, oh so beautiful. E.B. has since been rediscovered by Penguin and given respectful covers - but I love my falling apart E.B.s and would love to have them leather bound.

  12. How lovely is that painting box! I'd better not let DH see. He has a huge collection of vintage art boxes from W&N and various others. W&N actually gave him a private tour after hours when he sent them pics of his collection. The leather box is just lovely and so are the library ads. True eye candy all! R x
