What to wear to work

Now. This post does have something to do with the uneasy New Year transition from settee-ridden sloth to reluctant academic. It's tricky getting back into the swing of things - blogging, work, wearing slightly smarter clothes - after a couple of weeks down time. I'm still aiming for 24-hour style, trying to cultivate a go-anywhere look that works both day and evening, home and away. Not that I spend my life dashing from chalk face to cocktails, but it's good to be prepared. And I've just noticed that this outfit is reduced in the Fenwick sale - I'd wear it with flat Chelsea boots (think I might have said that before, but at least I'm consistent). The combination of a patterned silk shirt and pair of neatly tailored trousers will give off a professional vibe, even if my brain still feels like a brandy-soaked Christmas pudding.

What are you wearing to work, this week?

Great outfit, laid back and smart at the same time. Believe it or not, I'd still feel overdressed in it though. Working from home means jeans and mainly big shirts, simple jumpers, oversized cardigans over a t-shirt. I always wear perfume and lipstick though - yes, even at home.

Have a good week, hope the January blues doesn't hit you too hard... xo

Fenwick sale is my favourite. Hope all the good stuff has not gone by the time I get back to London next week.

I spent most of the last week in a bathrobe...I decided not to wear it to work this morning...but that was a hard decision!!

Pretty shirt, nice look. For day-to-night wear, I'm fond of ponte knits, and tend to live in them this time of year.

Great outfit. I decided to keep some painting clothes in my studio, and dress decently and change there, so when I left the studio to do errands, etc. I look OK.
It's a pain, but so far working out well. I do love the booties in the photo, but could never wear those heels.

Yes the shoes make the outfit look classy and fresh. But I could not wear those shooties longer than a photo shoot. I love the silk blouse and trousers....it would be fun to experiment with different boots and shooties.

I'm wearing those pants, or close enough, in camel with a t-shirt and camel cardigan. it is my ideal outfit for this chilly time of year. I am trying not to wear too much black so as to stand out from the general gloom.

That is a very classic and classy outfit. I am actually wearing the same outfit today as the one I wore when goofing around NYC last october since it has finally stopped raining in northern CA.

Love the shirt, but I suspect if you have boobs it is less flattering

by coincidence, my first day back at the front of the classroom, I wore a very similar outfit -- but wore low-heeled Repetto ballets with my pre-Christmas purchase of J Crew slim wool tailored trousers and a black-and-white printed silk blouse. An easy look, but smart as well, I thought . . . with the heels, of course, it would prob. be even more so, but I just wasn't up to that!

Mint Velvet neutral silk satin front shirt (currently reduced in the John Lewis sale), Boden black velvety jeans style skirt, long black shiny patent boots, & for the impending colder weather, smart camel tie belt coat with faux fur collar!
