That's Not My Age is hungover. A trip to Brighton yesterday for late lunch with a friend turned into a pub crawl across town and a white wine frenzy. It was a sunny day at the seaside and the laid-back vibe got the better of us. Though I was still relatively sober when a dog went by on a skateboard. Ah, that's Brighton for you. Even the ginormous bottle of fancy French lemonade I bought as a gift for the Blog Widower and subsequently drank al fresco, outside another bar, didn't help. Don't worry, the bottle remained inside its brown paper bag, I'm a secret lemonade drinker and the crazy down-and-out-tee-totaller-look is all the rage in East Sussex.

So why the photo of Ray Winstone? Because he's a top actor and a decent bloke. Winstone, 54, says he prefers, ' A family night in nowadays. I do like a night out with the geezers but it kills me for about four days afterwards.'
He's not wrong. Beyond a certain age it's still possible to party like an ageing rock star but the recovery time is much longer - which is why staying in with the latest box-set is far more appealing. We're off to a friend's birthday party tonight and I'm wishing I could stay in and watch The Killing. Oh and Ray Winstone is from Plaistow in the East End of London just like Mrs TNMA Senior. My mum and her family were evacuated from London to Blackpool during the Second World War, but that's another story...
What are you doing this weekend?

Yes, it does take soooo much longer to recover after a night out with refreshments when one reaches a certain decade! haha! Having wine and brown bread with hubby now in the safety of my own home. ;) Have a lovely weekend!
Too true. There come's a point in life - for me it was my late 30s - when I realised I could either drink and go to bed at a reasonable hour, or keep to soft drinks and stay up late. Drinking and late nights is a thing of the past now.
I'm dying to go to Brighton!
I read that interview today, yep three drinks I'd my limit now and I hate the saggy buldog face that now appears after the second one.
Having cocktail hour at home and then watching The King's Speech in my jammies
Your pub crawl sounds like a ton of fun, even if you are paying for it now.
Le monsieur and I bemoan the fact that we just can't drink (or eat) like we did when we were younger...our bodies punish us for it!
Sounds familiar - a big/late night, and I'm useless for the whole of the next day, whereas once upon a time I'd just get out of bed, have a big breakfast and some panadol and bounce right back. Sigh.
I've been there,I've done that. I 'm glad I had my share of nights out when I was younger.I now prefer to stay home with a friend or two and enjoy the night. There is some drinking involved but not in excess.
I feel your pain. The morning after is just dreadful and I never bloody learn.
Ray Winstone is just fabulous but I wish you'd shown him in his Sexy Beast yellow Speedos, that would definitely have made me forget my hangover. xxx
Your Mum is an East End girl, well you learn something new every day. So its out for hair of the dog tonight is it? What am I up to? Working on the blog. But off to Edinburgh tomorrow morning, just over night. Will explain later. Hope you have a great evening. Xxxx
It takes me longer too. I start the day with a pint of water with 1000mg of soluble paracetamol and 1000mg of soluble blackcurrant vitamin C. That usually does the trick along with plenty of food.
It's so easy to get carried away with these warm evenings!
The lemonade look lovely I must track some down.
I love Ray! Vix is right the yellow Speedos on Sexy Beast would have been good!
That is interesting that your mum was an East End girl.
Everyone keeps telling me to see The Killing. Enjoy you party tonight xx
You've just described my PERFECT day. And I adore Ray Winstone, too. (It takes a special kind of guy to wear the yellow Speedos).
