This is a first for That's Not My Age, I don't normally do the red-carpet round-up kind of post but Blogger's near-death experience has obviously had an impact. Blog-loose and fancy-free, I was idly flicking through the Cannes Film Festival images yesterday when up popped Cheryl Cole in a sleek white Stephane Rolland evening gown - two days after her big-haired American debut wearing what looked like someone else's clothes. Huge improvement. Anyhow, I got to thinking about style and such matters and realised that some of the more wearable Cannes looks were simple monochrome outfits. Actually, I think Tilda Swinton's blouse could be described as nude, but hey let's not quibble over a few shades on the colour spectrum. I can't wait to see We Need to Talk About Kevin, read the book on holiday a few years ago and couldn't put it down. Bet Tilda's ace as Kevin's mum.

A simple understated attitude feels kind of appropriate on the Riviera. All very elegant, very French, very Coco Chanel. Speaking of which, here are a couple of photos from the Chanel Cruise Collection show:

Stella Tennant does casual glamour. Watch the Chanel show here.
Oh and three cheers for Ines de la Fressange in Roger Vivier flats.

No one can fault Tilda Swinton's figure in that outfit. I am also a flats person. I have to say I really don't like the look of the uber high platform heels. They look clunky to me.
Tilda is a goddess to me - she is completely fearless, and has her own face. Love the striped dress too, so chic!
I love Tilda, too! You've made my day. I had no idea We Need to Talk About Kevin is being made into a film. Can't wait. xxx
LOL at Blogger's near-death experience. It changed you forevah!
Congrats for making it to the independent! Good thing for the 40s clan.
Tilda looked the best I have ever seen her and I loved Cheryl Coles look too. Blogger has got me all behind, will get round to catching up soon and no I won't be wearing Mimosa this season!
I just bought a black and white dress for a summer occasion. This morning when I opened the Sunday Times Style Magazine, it was all colourful florals, not a black and white dress in sight. I panicked but feel so much better after reading this post - the world is obviously with me while the Style Mag lags behind....
Helena xx
Beautiful selection of monochrome (and the various shades). Tilda looks wonderful and the Chanel cruise collection is jaw dropping. Xxxx
Please can I be Tilda? Just for a day? Ax
Great collection of photos! Black & white is so classic.
Tilda is incredible. (Ines and Uma not looking too shabby either!) I won't be able to watch the movie, though, as the book gave me nightmares for about six months after I read it. I couldn't put myself through that again ...
One of my colleagues at work lent me this book and she still has never received it back because I took the liberty of lending it to everybody i possibly could.
Now they've made a movie and Tilda Swinton is in it. i for one simply cannot wait!
I am such a fan of black and white fashion. I think that, if you wear black and white, you look chic no matter what. Plus, then you can punch it up with hot accessories and colors.

Love Tilda!
Perfection.
Tilda's brilliant. I can't wait to see the film either.
Ines looks amazing in that one-shoulder dress. I have loads and was wondering whether to wheel them out again this year xx
