Weekend Style

Kerfuffle over. Team TNMA back in residence. And hooray for a long, lazy weekend in London. So, I actually can't stop wearing my coloured jeans and chinos - though not at the same time, I alternate, obviously - and that's exactly what I'll be doing over the Bank Holiday. And now that I've grown accustomed to a brightly coloured bottom half, I'm thinking of diversifying. Soon my wardrobe will be blushing with pride. That's Not My Age loves a summer jacket, and this soft pink Current Elliott number looks lovely with chinos - and it'll be good with flared jeans too. Got both of those, plus enough stripey t-shirts to set up shop next to the Grand Canal in Venice. Mmm...there's a thought, I could do with the extra Euros.

That's Not My Age has also been pondering the delights of the Mum Bag. OK, I know that this is the kind of thing Alexa Chung and her mates carry off with ease but this blog is all about grown-up style for proper grown-ups. So forget about the youngsters for the time being, just remember to keep the rest of the outfit slick and never ever do Mum Shoes and Bag at the same time. I like this Tula shoulder bag, it has a real seventies, Linda McCartney-feel and I bet it's got compartments!

And now that Ines has spoken, I'm on the look-out for a pair of Parisian Style penny loafers. Research tells me that the Church's version is near-perfect, so just need to start saving - or maybe I should get myself and my t-shirts over to Italy!

That all looks very grown up.

Can I pick your brains? I have to go to a gala dinner in a swanky casino during a trip to Tunisia in the next couple of weeks. I haven't a clue what to wear. Can you suggest something? x

You know, I've always loved the striped T on others, but have never found a flattering way to wear them myself. A colorful jacket may just be the key. Hmmmmmm..... Something new to consider! (Love the jacket)

I got a pair of Church loafers from the Outnet but tragically they were too big and sold out by the time I got them (so no swap) ... They were absolutely gorgeous.

The jacket is gorgeous and what a great way to add summer brights to your neutrals? I would wear it with my Current Elliott Captains trousers, only £50 from that Browns flash sale the other week!

A jacket this small, works only ( imo ) if you are small yourself, on a small boned person.

I'm glad to know you're not wearing two pairs of pants at once.

The pink jacket is lovely. Scared to look at the price tag though! Hopefully Gap will do some coloured blazers this year rather than just their usual neutrals (which I do love the shape of). xx

Love the jacket and your comment about striped tee shirts - so funny! I am always drawn to them too. Agree, I like the idea of a Mum bag but... being on the other side of 50 (just!) I think I could be perceived as too, well 'Mum'! XX

Ellen - yes of course, I'm going to email you.

Metscan - Mmm..not so sure about that, I'm not small-boned and I would definitely wear it!

WeShop - I know it's a tad on the pricey side, I'm hoping it'll be in the sale. If not, you're right Gap are quite good for cotton summer jackets. I have a lovely printed one from a few years ago that I still wear.
