French Style

En vacances last week, as well as lolling on the beach, That's Not My Age conducted a minimal amount of research into the secret of French style. I was on holiday, remember! Here's what I found.... a very dapper gentleman (above).

Excellent use of a sunhat - and the obligatory nautical tee.

Mais oui. The French know how to accessorise.

A classic white line shirt looks fab teamed with eye-catching jewellery.

Check out the Helen Mirren hair style and pussybow blouse.

Great haircut, great bike!

NB Most of these photos were sneaky snaps so merci tout le monde and I hope you don't mind. You all look fantastique!

Absolutely fabulous shots there, I adore the third photo, she's divine!
I was in Pondicherry (former French colony in Tamil Nadu) earlier this year and the expats stood out a mile with their understated chic and ability to look cool in the searing heat, how on earth is it that we can't do the same?

I wanted to do that in Venice - there were some fab Italian looks but my camera is too rubbish. I'm going save hard for SLR.

Lovely sneaky snaps.

I love this post, I like the fact that all the photos are of women .."of a certain age". I think its proves that a great hair cut and simple well cut clothes suit all ages, none of these women were particularly fashionable .. but all were stylish xx

C'est magnifique. Whereabouts did you find these fabulous looking people? We are off to Brittany soon and I am holding myself back from the purchase of a breton shirt or beret. Local craft shops there also seem to sell kilts-i"ll need to investigate why,

I love French style. Lived there for a year when I was 20 and was too young to appreciate their style (I stuck with my Docs and goth look for the whole year!). Keep re-reading French Women Don't Get Fat for lifestyle tips and a great excuse to justify a glass of champagne! xx

I moved to the South of France this year. French women are inspiring mainly because ... they do not follow trends like the English. Individuality is what it is all about. To look like someone else - quelle horreur! You might be interested in a small article I've written entitled Vive La France on my blog about this. http://bellisvintage.blogspot.fr/
