Like I need an excuse to blather on about the wonderful Nick Cave, but today sees the CD release (am I the only one left on the planet who still buys these things?) of The Road soundtrack - Cormac McCarthy book, film out on Friday - composed by the supremely talented antipodean rock God and his compadre, Warren Ellis. Swoon. That's Not My Age has been a massive fan of Cave and his not-so-merry band of men for ooh twenty odd years now, saw them live in Berlin as a student and recently caught Ellis playing violin and telling tales with the Dirty Three. With a combined age of 96 years, it's still rockin' out not rocking chair for this pair of bad old boys.
Not sure? Have a little listen to this beautiful piano track, The Beach.
Blimey...Debbie Harry, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, am I starting to sound like an ageing rock chick?

Beautiful haunting track I am listening to while I write this. Thank you for sharing. And dont worry you are not the only one buying CD's. I am right there with you. I love the cover art and pictures and the pleasure of owing the disc.
Thank you Fashionistable. I feel better about the CD habit & the Nick Cave obsession now!
Lovely Nick Cave. Half my life ago, my then-boyfriend was in a band and supported Nick Cave at one gig. Don't want to be done for libel, but tales from the dressing room revealed that Mr Cave was doing something rather unusual with my Body Shop coconut hair gel, which I'd lent to the band. Remmember that hair gel? Rock-hard and crispy hair for days!
Ooh er, missus! I used to prefer Boots' Country Born myself.
Another Nick Cave obsessive here - are you aware that the equally mighty Rowland S Howard died a few days ago? Oh, and Ms Adrienne, um, snap - my then-boyfriend & his band also supported The Birthday Party at one gig but this was back in about 1983, probably before hair gel was invented!
Hello Mrs Jones - thanks for your comment. Always a pleasure to meet another Nick Cave fan - and no, I hadn't heard about Rowland S Howard, that's very sad indeed.
i've been a huge fun of Nick Cave and i've been on 2 of his concerts while been a student in Athens.I also liked the film by Wim wenders in berlin. Then life got on the way and forgot about him until I saw him on a picture with his two children on the way to school.I never thought this day would come see him married with children
